Amazing Pitbull in need of a good home
My irresponsible room mate who has a serious gambling problem leaves for days at a time and leaves his dog locked in a small room with out food and water. When he does come home, i hear him beat the dog in the middle of the night. I try and take care of him when I can, but I am in the military working crazy shifts. Sometimes I go on detachment and surprized the dog is still alive when I come back.
The dogs name is Chaos, but contrary to his name, he is such a sweetheart to me and my friends. He loves car rides and stays next to you without a leash while I go jogging in the back country. Everywhere I go I get compliments and I pull in bitches like you would not imagine. He is good with my cat and loves to cuddle with whoever is with me at my house. However, the only time he ever attacks is when someone is alone with hood or sunglasses and he does not recognize you; he will go the **** off and you are a dead man. With that said, he is a smart gaurd dog and knows a robber when he sees one. One day we found a trail of blood leading to our door only to find the door kicked in.
He just needs a good home and some love. I would love to take him in, but my schedule does not allow it.
Please PM me if you are interested.

Thank you. The reason for the urgency is because my room mate owes the landlord over $3000 and he will not be staying here long. Wherever he goes, I fear for this amazing animal.
I assume the dog is in Philly?
I spoke to my wife about this as she does animal rescue (cat rescue actually). We don't have room for the dog, but she knows many people that may be able to help you out. If you PM me your info, I will forward it to her. At the very least, she can put the dog up on her petfinder site, which gets a decent amount of traffic. I agree with F1blueRx7 though, if all else fails please make sure you take him to a no-kill shelter. He'll at least have a chance if you do.

Davin, is your roommate in the military?
Tell him if he beats the dog one more time I'll be coming to visit you and he and I will have a little talk..... he'll be in the front leaning rest. I'm serious.

Also, this dog is good with my cat. I was very uneasy when I moved in, but they have become good friends. I need to go out today and get him food, since my room mate won't.

I left a note on the fridge telling him he needs to get to the store to get the dog some food. It has been day 4 and still no food for him. I just got back from a Civil Air Patrol meeting, gah, I wish I had more hours in the day

Someone get this damn dog. My girl friend got a pitbull EXACTLY like this one. He was neglected/ left alone in a shed for close to a week with no food or water as a puppy. We just stole the dog and brought to our house and hes been awesome ever since. Funny thing, we named him TURBO!
So seriously, someone pick this dog up and be happy it wont be neglected again!

Gotta tell you guys, these dogs have AMAZING dispositions.
Don't let all of the dog-fight BS taint your perspective of them. Pitbulls are actually some of the safest dogs around children. They're also quite good with other dogs also, espcially if fixed.
So how do I know... we've always owned Border Collie, and though smart, they tend to have an edgy dispositions. However, we've also been fostering dog for years. We keep them until they get adopted and the two pitbulls we've had have been AMAZING... even with our cats.
However, this dog HAS TO get fixed. We certainly don't need any more dogs in the world. Also, it will mellow him out, especially around other dog.
Finally, I believe to the core of my herat that dogs understand what we do for them. If you rescue him, he will FOREVER remember it and return the love in spades. I've seen it with every foster we've had.

I have no idea what is going on with this guy. He will not return my calls and I have not seen him in two weeks. i hear him come home at 2am and leave at 4am. I bought him food again, but will feed him when I can.
I really know nothing about dogs. How often are you supposed to feed them? Is feeding him twice a day good? I also purchased him the furminator to get rid of his undercoat. Also, how often should I give him a bath? Is once a week good? Everytime I come home to let him out, he freaks the **** out because he is so happy to see me. When my room mate comes home, he knows and hides from him.

Food: Default to about a cup and a half twice per day; one in the morning and then in the evening. Some dog self-regulate so you can just keep the bowl full. Some eat out of control. If the later, try the default.
Water: Always lots available.
Bath: That's personal preference. If he's not getting muddy, you'll know. We bath our fosters according to how "smelly" they tend to be. Some dogs love and some hate it. Hose him off outside and he's self-dry quickly; an advantage of a smooth (i.e. short haired) coated dog. He really shouldn't have an undercoat; not Furminator required. That usually a rough coated dog problem.
As previously mentioned, you may want to really look into getting the dog to a shelter. Check with the local dog control, but it sounds like abandonment and therefore a candidate for a Pit Bull rescue.
Wish we lived closer.
