After 11 Months....

Yes, believe it or not...

Sept 14th, 2004

Erik's Rx7's FPD fails and his engine catches fire

Nearly a year later

with the help of

Brad (13B-RE TII)
Myk (eage8)
Suds (sudseh)
Mike (f1bluerx7)
Steve (Turbo23)
Jung (HITMANEM2)
Mike (crashdummy)
Jason (tofuball)

And ofcourse

Ray Crowe (Malloy Mazda)

They all took countless hours out of thier lives to help me at one point or another durring the 11 months that my car was dead.

Ray allways was ready with whatever part i needed at a fantasic price.

Here it is for you non-believers

Yes, that is the coolant buzzer - we think the sensor is broken - we are working on it - it has plenty of coolant, and we burped the lines.

The temp gauge isn't moving, so we need to fix that too. It is not ready to be driven yet, but it starts!

Suds came by today

Coolant sensor - fixed

Temp sensor - replaced plug and wire...still no luck.....

bouncing idle - TPS? we unplugged the TPS and now it is staying at 1.4k rpm and isn't bouncing. So bad TPS or does it need to be adjusted?

there are still some things that need to be looked at - may have a leaking seal on an injector, and that could or could not explain the ocassional bit of smoke from near the turbo.

Suds is coming by tomorrow to look at it some more. Let me know if you want to come by to take a look. I am free all day.

Oh yeah - i guess that was a big step =)

i was reading threads about bouncing idles, and they were a lot saying vac leak - but have we disproven it is a vac leak from un plugging the TPS?

Also - suds - i just thought of something...the TPS is on the UIM....i have THREE UIM, 2 of them in the basement...they have TPS on them....

Congrats on getting it to run, and hopefully congrats no being able to drive it father than your parking lot soon

I took mine out last night for the first time (well, the first time I went more than 5 miles with it). Need that alignment and a bunch of cleanup stuff to do, but it was a great feeling to cruise on 695... my tags are even legal and belong to my car

And I'm mad cause I'm not in the credits... I told you how to fire up the torch to get the exhaust manifold off

(No I'm not really mad, I didn't do all that much )

TPS are easy to test to see if they are bad, just check the readings on them with a multimiter.

Also remember, if you unplug them, the ECU automatically says: "RUN ULTRA RICH"

So, if telling the ECU to run much richer is solving your problem . . . you might have a lean condition.

Lean conditions are most commonly caused by . . . .
. . .
. . . . . .
.................................
. . . . vac leaks! :O

we replaced the TPS

that solved the bouncing idle
