Weber Carburetor Tunning Recommendations???

i bought it off my friend and seems pretty legit:

i wanted to know the correct tunning recommendations for a 6 port 13b engine(1989 rx7 GXL N/A)

The carburetor and the manifold, i really don't know what weber carburetor it is but it says:
TIPO 48DCOE98/2
N0 0 M

fuel regulator:
mallory ignition part no. 4309

fuel pump:

fuel injector plugs:

brake vacuum:
i heard that i really don't need this but it would make my brakes perform a bit smoother...

I was wondering what hoses( size and length) i needed as well as what other parts i might need...

thanks

with a Weber and a low pressure fuel pump (I have one that tops out at 6psi) you can just run a single fuel line and dead head it into the carb with no regulator. Then you need no vacuum lines except the one to your brake booster. The weber you cant really run vacuum timing advance.

As for jetting every engine is different. I think my 6-port with 48mm DCO had a 55 idle jet, 210 main, and 180 air corrector. Somewhere around there any way is a good starting point.

The carbs were on a stock 6-port 13b with the 5/6 port sleeves removed, so it was identical to your setup.

My motor now is much different. I know that now I have a 55F8 idle jet and a 230 main, bud dont remember the air corrector, think its 180.

My carb is a DCO 48, yours is DCOE. The difference I thought was that yours should have a choke but I dont see one. Jetting should be about the same between a DCO vs DCOE.

If you start with whats in my earlier post that will get you running. From there you may need to go up or down a step on the idle jet. Once you get idle good you can play around with the main jet and air corrector. You might want to find a local VW bug shop, lots of those guys run Webers so they usually have jets. They look at you funny when you ask for large jets like a 230, as 160 is more typical for them. Maybe you can convince them to let you try out different jets until you get the right combo and buy that, it can get expensive if you buy a good assortment instead.

Once you have a good source for jets you can find some good tuning info here

I used a wide band O2 sensor, that made things 1000 times easier than doing it by ear and spark plug color.

I changed my idle to a 50F8 and that looks good now. The main though is way too rich. Currently is a 230 so I will put in a 220 or maybe even a 210 and see how that goes. Soon I will be ready to run into the upper RPM's and figure out if my air corrector is good.

I wish I had this wide band on years ago, it really makes tuning easy.

If you had a choke I would say don't even bother trying to get it to work. Was more hassle then it was worth.
