Path to NA gains?

Alright so I'm starting my first build ever with my NA 86 and intend to do time attacks and road race events.

I started by doing maintenance to the car and now I'm focusing more on handling and reducing as much weight as I possibly can (including going on a diet myself) but have added a K&N Drop in filter(i've read that the stock filter box isn't too restrictive) and pretty soon a complete RB exhaust.

I don't feel comfortable with doing any porting myself so I'll probably end up sending things out when I go to do a rebuild, but for now I want to do what I can.

Thing is I have no idea on what to do next, suggestions?

Is this your daily driver? If not, do you have or will you be buying a trailer and something to tow the trailer with?

Do you plan on doing HPDE, TT, AutoX or W2W? NASA, SCCA or ? What class?

How much money can you realistically spend on this in the next 6 months, 1 year, 3 years?

Not my Daily driver and I do have truck and trailer, though I would like to keep it street-able as much as possible.

Not sure, I want something local to West Michigan though. So AutoX may be the only way to go then.

At most I'll get 6 months out of the year to even drive it so it all depends. If I did nothing but save up over a 6 month winter period I'd roughly have 5k-7k by the time winter was over with

Something you might want to consider would be a wideband o2 sensor and an rtek ecu chip. The s4 ecu runs the engine quite rich first round me especially in the top end. You will need a basic understanding of tuning fuel mixtures so you don't blow your engine though.

If I had 5k to 7k and wanted to stay na I would bridge a 4 port with na rotors then itb it and do a long primary header, but a 4.30 or a 4.80 rear gear set is great bang for the buck along with a nice viscous differential. my $.02

Hmmmmm.......... that sounds familiar but with a half bridge for more mid range, LOL.
