The 2006 Sandia scheduled has had a revision as of today. We have increased the number of classes running each Saturday night that we have oval racing scheduled. This Saturday night May 19th the Modifieds and Slug a Bugs have been added to race along with the Southwest Super Trucks, Mini-Stocks, Street Stocks, and Legends. We are taking five Saturday nights that had oval racing events scheduled and will be running Sizzlin Saturday Night Street Races, Drifting Events, and Car Competitions on those evenings.Our First Sizzlin Saturday Night event will be May 26th we intend to form four classes of street cars to run on the south 1.1 mile road course in a timed event format. Tentative classes will include Unlimited Street, Super Street, Modified Street,and Stock Street. If its got 4 wheels and you drive it to the track and it has good seat belts and passes safety tech we will do our best to get you in a division to run in. Helmets will be required we hope to have a few loaner helmets available at the track for this first event. The format will allow cars practice sessions on the course and then time trials, a transponder will be placed on the car for the timed event and trophies will be awarded to fast times in each division. There will be no wheel to wheel racing and participants under 18 will need a signed parental consent form.
These Saturday
events are intended for all types of street cars that are looking for a safe controlled enviroment to run there cars hard and to participate in a controlled competition. Costs for the first event will be $20 for the car and driver $10 for pit access and $5 for grandstands. In addition to the the timed road course events we will have burn out, stereo melt downs, and best looking ride competitions.
These events will be geared toward the young street racers but will also welcome the muscle car groups. We are certainly looking for partners and support from the motor sports community. We also anticipate the benefit of allowing the Montgomery Street racers a place to go have an affordable blast. Dates for this series will be May 26, June 16th, July 21st, August 4th, and Sept 1st.
