Ravens New Project

Oh so here is what im looking at. A friend of mine has a 1987 RX-7 N/A (GLX-GXL?) that he has had for 2 years and never driven it. Why you may ask? Because there is no engine in it… so what happened to the engine? it blew up. So what is he going to do with it with a great looking car with no engine in it?(everything still works, the battery is still in it holding a charge) hey I never said that the was no engine I just said that there wasn’t one in the car. Sitting in storage is a rebuilt (sorta) 13bTII engine (with computer), needing only apex seals and put back together. So im talking to him yesterday and he offers to sell it to me, complete package car, engine, all the spare parts, extra set of rims, for 800 dollars. Now this car was going to be his play toy, so he has striped out the unwanted panels and carpeting, cleaned the engine bay, installed a new radiator rebuilt the turbo and various other things, but alas… he has no time to finish it. This is where I come in. I now, have the opportunity to get my hands on an awesome car for very little expense to me. And to top it off the engine is already out, so any mods that I want to do I can before re-installing it in my garage. The only thing is that im use to my GSL-SE which has almost nothing for aftermarket options in comparison to the 1990 motor and ‘87 chassis(150K on it). The trany is good, but he would suggest putting in a new clutch. The steering is tight and the LSD checked out fine (how do we know this? The guy he bought it from had a lot of work done on it). There are a few minor dents in the front fenders, which could be replaced or pounded out. And it will need a TII hood so the engine can breathe. Finally! Down to the questions; because I am inexperienced with this car.
1 how hard is it to put this engine back together and wire it up.
2 with the money that im saving in initial cost, ware should I take the engine to get ported and polished or whatever you all may sugest to add power.
3 what else am I missing, im sure there is a list as a quarter mile long of things I should know before starting this endeavor. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Basically I want to turn this car into fast machine. As well as my daily driver, because my 84’ GSL-SE just hit 100k

apperently this is hard to read so here is a better version

Ok so here is what I'm looking at:
