I originally accidentally posted this in the lounge, so I'm posting it here instead
Well I've been looking to upgrade to an FD and I came across a post on Ebay that was quickly removed. Before it disappeared I managed to email the seller since it seemed like a steal for a very nice FD, but after the seller emailed me back I'm not so sure. This is what she wrote:
"Hello,
I am glad to hear that you are interested to buy my 1993 Mazda RX 7,

,no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage,no engine
problems. The interior is in like new condition and has never been
smoked
in.The car is registered in United States and it has clear title.I live
in

from
US but when i tried to register it here they said that i can't
register a
car that has US emissions.I sell it so cheap because i can't find a
buyer in
my country.I want to sell it in US because the car is still registered
there. The amount you will have to pay in order to own this vehicle is
$5,000
with shipping costs included!I want to take this opportunity to assure
you
that this deal is 100% legitimate, the financial part of this deal will
be
manage by a third party,in this way both of us will be protected. They
will
keep the payment until you receive the item and test it.
So if you really want it please give me an email as soon as possible.
Thank you,"
They sent more pics of the car, and I must say that it is as pristine as they come. My only concern is do I take the chance or do I just pass the offer and look for something more legit?

I figured that it was too good to be true. I just needed assurance that I wasn't blowing off a great deal. It just doesn't seem to fit most of the other scams, and it's almost believable. It's much better than the others I've gotten.
I wonder what would happen if I asked for close up shots of the hood and wheels...
Either they actually have the car and are trying to scam, or they don't. 50/50 shot that I call them out?

Tell them you will pick the 3rd party to hold the money. Even if the car has a fake title or is stolen and you get stuck with the car.....it would still be worth 5K. But I gaurantee he won't go for it.

It is definitely a waste of time...I would not even entertain it especially when buying an FD, a car which you probably want to see it before buying. I had similar inquiries when selling cars on Autotrader where it was like a form email explaining that "their client" would like to buy the car and pay in full etc. etc. but it is BS.
Thanks for the answers. I am no dummy myself and so I wouldn't have actually done it with or without others telling me not to. I just wanted to be sure. I'll continue my search elsewhere....
