First time RX-7 owner, Sidney MT
Hey all, figured I would introduce myself. I am owner of a 1982 RX-7, with a 12a engine. that is about all I know. I am a honda guy, but I have always respected the (IMO) unorthodox nature of the RX-7. My mazda, however, needs a little help. the engine is seized up. it rotates one full turn, but stops in the same place, both directions. so it looks like I will be learning these engines very intimately, lol. The car itself is in great shape, so when it is finally running, it will be worth the wait.

DO NOT force it through that stopped spot, it could break a seal of you've got something stuck to the housing. It could be a piece of carbon, look through the 1st gen section for decarbonizing. Otherwise you probably need to open up the engine to see if there's some kind of housing damage or there's something going on with the eccentric shaft. Good luck.
Could be carbon or could maybe not, Usually you can get rid of it by turning it backward hmm. Try to look in the plug holes with a mirror and a flashlight to see if you can see anything. Anyway, my first car is a 1982 mazda rx7 and I still have it. It's not that hard to rebuild a 12A first gen and if you need anything for the engine I probably have it. thats no joke. I have three 12A engines and two completely dis assembled engines that have no unusual wear and all the major parts are very useable. Since you live on the other side of montana and not farther it would be cheap to ship anything, if you have any questions call me at (406) 249-9687 I'll answer any questions,

Hmm, The rotor costs 10 to ship and I'll pick out my best one which would go for about 70, so 80 shipped on the rotor. The housing I'll have to look over as well to find the best one, but that cost about 15-20 to ship and I can sell it shipped for 70. So a total of 150 for everything shipped to the other side of Montana. As for seals. I have a few but they are all in different stages of life. I don't have a complete set taken out of one motor that I'm positive will work for you. I can send you out a few seals with the other packages and let you decide if they will work for you or not. And you can pay for them then, but if you don't want them I think its like 2 bucks to send them on back to me in the mail.
yep. one of these days i'll put them up. I also have a 78 Malibu that is demanding my attention right now. (i'm building a cowl hood for her, and tuning the engine) I'm doing all of this around working at a car stereo shop and fixing my wife's new(ish) car. I haven't even had a chance to do any more to the RX-7,lol I figure if I get my other major projects out of the way now, I will have some time for ole Rexxie this spring sometime.

The malibu

My obsession
My pics of the RX-7 are on my computer at work. I will put them up later.

Thanks. I love anything automotive. I own a 98 dodge stratus, the 78 malibu,, a 91 honda accord coupe, a 91 honda CRX, and last but not least a 82 RX-7. all but the RX are running, legal vehicles(don't think I'm the guy with 50 broke down cars in my yard, lol) My problem is that there aren't enough hours in the day to spend rime with my family, and spend time with my cars.
