82 Dashboard replacement

I will shortly be replacing the dashboard in my 82 rx-7. Has anyone ever done this? How difficult of a job is it? Thanks.

There've been threads on it in the 1st gen forum. You could also get the cap that perminently glues over the old dash board. I understand they look really good.

Thanks, purple82. I have tried the cap....twice actually. Both times the thing warped. I got a replacement for free (except shipping of course) the first time. I figured it would just happen again. Since I am new to this forum, I am not sure where to look for all of the info. I will poke around and see if I can find the threads for the dash replacement.

What color is your interior? I have a tan colored dash with no damage I'd let go of ...cheap.

Thanks, DB but I have undamaged dashboard. My current dashboard is black and the one I purchased is grey so I will need to paint it before I install it. I am just trying to figure out how big of a chore this will be to replace it. I am only interested in replacing the top part of the dash, not the whole thing. From the looks of the dashboard I got, it does not appear to be a big deal but I am sure I am missing something. Most everyone says it is quite an ordeal to replace.
