Then all you do is drive over the bridge that crosses the track and head to turn 3, AKA: Camp Tim.
|
alright. wasn't sure if this would still be available that late in the event. thanx.

According to Diane of HSR we can start coming after 5 p.m. Thursday evening and
the gate stays open all evening (whatever that means). She didn't mention a specific cutoff time  |

There is always room for another Rotorhead in GA. And, we don't even have to put our cars away in the "winter". |
I got my ticket also. Has anyone seen a scedule, other than the basic one: http://classicmotorsports.net/events/Mitty11/schedule/
I want to see a brake down of the practice sessions and races. I hate it when they say: 8 a.m.–4:45 p.m. — Feature Races |
Just go to the HSR website, they have a provisional schedule. Heres what I found so
far race schedule |
Tickets arrived a couple of days ago. :) Still have to get my car back on the road though, so I'll be pretty busy for the next couple of weeks...

Flyin’ Miata Summer Camp, MegaSquirt MegaMeet,
IMSA RS/SCCA 2.5 Challenge Reunion, and Factory Five Design Contest Will Make Up a Major Part of This Vintage Racing Weekend, April 29 – May 1, 2011 The 2011 Classic Motorsports Mitty, the South’s premier vintage race, has added a number of special infield events as part of the GRM Speedfest at The Mitty. For starters, this year’s Mitty will host Flyin’ Miata’s Summer Camp East, a gathering for Flyin’ Miata’s customers and fans of the Mazda Miata. Here are some highlights from the Summer Camp agenda: - Take a ride with Flyin’ Miata staff on a small track. Various cars will be on hand, including their specially built V8 Targa Miata and Elvis, their Supertuner Challenge Miata. - Attend technical seminars in the Flyin’ Miata car tent to learn about the basics of turbocharging and the company’s new product development. Attendees can also follow a guided tour of a V8 Miata conversion and ask the Flyin’ Miata folks about technical details. - Stop by the Flyin’ Miata tent to check out their cool parts. The staff will be there to answer any parts questions. - Take advantage of special parts deals and giveaways. The Flyin’ Miata Summer Camp East, in conjunction with Mazda as the featured marque, should make the 2011 Mitty the biggest Mazda-focused event in history. If that wasn’t enough, DIYAutoTune.com will hold their MegaSquirt MegaMeet at this year’s Mitty. Visitors will have the opportunity to hang out with all of the major car geeks behind the MegaSquirt fuel-injection system. Just about everyone who's played a major role in the project will be on hand for questions and technical assistance. MegaMeet attendees will also be able to meet and greet the core members of the DIYAutoTune.com team. Plus, they’ll get a glimpse of upcoming hardware and hear all of the technical info about it. If it’s new and related to MegaSquirt, you will likely see it here first. Be sure to check out their tent in the infield. Next, Factory Five Racing’s new mid-engined sports car contest kickoff party will also take place at The Mitty. The F5 team will have the new chassis on display for the first time, and they’re inviting attendees to design the new body. Did we mention that the winner of the contest gets a $5000 prize? Factory Five staff will be on hand to answer questions about the new car or their existing products. Just so we don’t forget that The Mitty is also about racing, the IMSA RS/SCCA 2.5 Challenge Reunion group will races and have their cars on display at this years Mitty. Famous BMW, Datsun, Alfa Romeo and Mazda IMSA RS 2.5 Trans-Am cars will be on display, while some famous drivers will be present including Mitty Grand Marshal Jim Downing, himself a former IMSA RS champion. Best of all, the cars will reunite on track, racing fender to fender while keeping the old racing rivalries alive. All of these gatherings and events—along with the standard world-class vintage racing—will make the 2011 Classic Motorsports Mitty the best ever. Make your plans now to be at Road Atlanta April 28-May 1. To purchase tickets and get more information, visit themitty.com. |
Tim, you forgot to mention the Camp Tim Rotary Round Up. Definitely the premier event of the weekend!
|
And donn't forget, Donnie is going to be there with all those soda bottles strapped to his back at Camp Tim. Donnie, what time is the blast off scheduled for?
Obligatory bold text for Ray. |
You guys probably need to see this to understand my previous post.

Mike,
I am down for trying out the bottle propulsion, but only over water, not enough beer in the world to try it over dry land. We will have to save that for the next lake outting. I am still unsure if I will be able to make it this year. The rx7 isnt back together yet, but I finally have all the parts back. I just need to pick up fluids, have time to do the work, and some testing and tuning. I am wrenching on it after classes and such, but it's the end of the semester, so it's busy busy time. I am able to make it I won't be able to take the whole weekend off work, but after talking to Billy I will try to come down for Saturday. Since it's also the weekend of finals, I won't be able to make the call if I can come or not until it gets closer. |
Hope to see you there Donnie (and Mr. Wankel).
And yeah, you'd look great with a bunch of those soda bottles strapped to your back sailing over Lake Hartwell out at Crit's Lake House. We could sell tickets. But for a warm up at the Mitty, maybe we could do a little scooter jumping? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieXQJ...layer_embedded |
We can set up the bottle show at Crits as long as he doesn't mind. Go ahead and start selling tickets. The revenue will go towards my doctor bills.
I'd love to do some scooter jumps, but that scooter is gone, and mine is in Marietta and I definitely don't see it making the trip to The Mitty. Get a hold on someone's pit bike, another table, some more tires, and we can make it happen for sure. |
Donnie, get off the forum and study. We are planning to see you at the Mitty and the only way that happens is if you are in good shape for your finals. Good luck with school. See you at the Mitty.
|
I will be there but sadly with none of my Mazdas. The clutch on the GSL-SE is slipping badly and the 79 is not road ready. Neither the V8 RX-7 or V8 Miata are tagged and titled.
Besides Ive got three other people with me plus I my Dad to pick up at the airport on Friday. I'll likely be in the Fusion or my wifes Forester. Probably handing out GRM magazines at the gate at least one of the days. If you see a black Forester with rumbly exhaust and white grassroots stickers thats me. I will absolutely stop by Camp Tim and say hello to Tim, Billy and everybody else. Look forward to seeing everyone! -Greg |
Mike,
My grades are good and locked down. I should easily rock a 4.0 for the semester, but that will just require a lot of studying during finals time. Actually the biggest weighing factor is $$, the weak link of financially independent full-time college students. I probably won't be able to make the call until just before The Mitty. I am really wanting to come down for Saturday, but I will probably be rocking the new DD, Rav4, because of lack of time to get the RX7 back on the road or $$ to reinstate the insurance. Hopefully I will see you there. |
