MI Woodward Dream Cruise - August 17th 2019

It's that time of the year again. Woodward dream cruise. It is Saturday August 17th. We will be out at the lot again all day. Come on out and park your car (if you have one) and sit and watch cars. We will have the grill again and will provide hot dogs, brats and burgers so please feel free to bring something or just provide a donation for food and the Porta john. If you have any questions please contact Richard (Groll) (248)568-1745.

Lot Clean-up will take place on Sunday Aug 11th. We will clean up the lot and to put up fencing, so if anyone can come out to help that Sunday let us know, as of right now not sure on what time.

The address to the parking lot is: 99 Murray St Pontiac, MI 48342

Tell us what your bringing so we know what to expect, RX cars and rotary powered cars will get the best parking spots, followed by other cruise cars.

You can personally contact me via text or phone:
Richard "Groll" @ 248-568-1745

If you want to sign up and bring something, Please let me know and I will place your name next to the item. For quantities, Expect to feed about 30-40 people. What ever is not signed up for, I will try to supply. If your bringing food, please try to arrive by 11. I expect to start grilling around 12.

Hi Richard,

You probably don't remember me since I haven't been to the cruise since the first and last time I took my FD there. What time will you be out on Saturday? Unfortunately, I have a massive dent in my gas tank which has led to a pretty substantial leak. I'm currently waiting to get an estimated delivery date from Ray Crowe for my backordered replacement from Japan. To make matters worse, he believes they are all out in Japan as well which means I need to wait for them to manufacture tanks. I was geeked to bring it out this year but that's not going to happen now. I'll be driving a 2017 Imapala or 2015 Sonata, nothing cool but hopefully there will still be parking?

Just let me know what time I can park.

Thanks and I'm looking forward to seeing you again along with RX enthusiasts.

Craig

Hi Craig, this isn't Rich but I'll relay the message (copied and pasted his original message from elsewhere), we'll be out there all day really, we have non RX-7 parking as well. Sucks to hear about the gas tank! If you show up, just let them know you're from the RX-7 Club.

So wish I could have made it there. I came up M59, turned right on to Woodward, turned around at Long Lake to head to the lot and my clutch pedal started getting soft. I had to keep pumping the pedal constantly to make it out of traffic and back home. Looking at the master from inside the foot well, I could see that the back of it was leaking a little. I had a brand new master sitting on the shelf, so it was full Dukes of Hazzard mode. Had it all out in 10 minutes, but but could NOT get the hard line off(tried both in and out). Wrestled with it for hours before destroying the fitting beyond help. Ordered a new hard line from Atkins & clutch slave cylinder from RockAuto and then pouted for the rest of the day. Next year for sure!

Ah, that's unfortunate, but I've had the exact thing happen to me in an RX-7 once before too, so i get it. We had quite a few RX-7s come by, I haven't counted them yet, but we had over 20 RX7's/Rotary powered cars show up. Hope to see you next year! We also often meet up on Woodward between 13 Mile and 14 Mile on occasion too throughout the summer.

Would love to see some picture of the event!

That also happen to me before, I wasn’t as fortunate as there was a pinhole leak in my clutch hard line, and I had to tow the car home.

I can try to get some pictures up within a few days, I was too busy talking with people and admiring other cars to take any real good photos.

Here are some photos from the event. Typically i take more photos, but the cruise really gets my attention, and talking to fellow rotary guys! If you've never been to the Woodward Dream Cruise, i'd definitely look into it and come on out sometime, i'm fortunate to live in the area, so all summer long I'm up and down Woodward.
