Who here is in Columbus, OH??
Whats up guys? Im in my last year at OSU and will be graduating in the sping with a degreen in Electrical Engineering. Once the cash starts pooring in, I really really want to get a 3rd gen rx-7. I love the car from everything ive seen so far. I have been reading tons about them BUT, still have yet to get a drive in one. Any rx-7 people around town want to meet up some time and gimme a ride?!?!
I really would like to get something fairly basic to start, and build it up myself (with some supervision). Possibly even rebuild it before I start.
If no one is local here, anyone have some advice on what to start with? IE, should I look for something with a TT and do a single conversion? Or is it easier to start with a non turbo and just add one?
Thanks guys,
Eric

hey eric.
im in columbus ohio. First off if you are getting an RX-7 they come Twin turbo, atleast the 93+ my car will be running as of sunday, finally. I just am getting one last part and she will be going strong again. If you want there are a lot of guys in town here with rx-7s. We have a very good rotary shop in town. RX-7 store. rx7store.net. Its really up to you if you want to build something from the ground up. Just remember the more mods done to the car, the more you are going to have to put in it. There is a faq section as a sticky in the 3rd gen section that will give you all you will ever need to know about our cars. Also searching is a key on this site. Dont rely on other guys to answer a question for you, that 5 minutes of searching could provide for you. We are all here to help one another, and chances are a question you have has been answered.
If you want to go for a ride i can take you sometime. But welcome to the site. Hope you find some good information. Before you buy an Rx-7 make sure you do your homework first.

One thing I have been wondering...are they any people local (shops included) that would not only rebuild an engine, but walk me through it? In other words, I would love to do it, but have no idea how. Any guys at the local shop or around that would spend a few hours and do the work with me for some cash?
Or is it the type of thing that you simple let a pro do?

If you go to the RX-7 Store, Xavier (if he still there) might help you out but don't take my word on it because it been a while. Check out their site www.rx7store.net . They also are very competitive on their prices.
