we need a "midwest for sale" sticky

i noticed some of the other reginal forums have them + my for sale threads are being deleted. a lot of good stuff could be gotten for cheap if its local, shippings a bitch and its expensive.
what do you think mods? doable?
if anyones in favor of this please chime in with your support.

St. Louis has our own spapping thread within this section, so I don't see why we can't make it region wide.

The problem with that is that as noobs come in, they have a billion posts to go through and no one want to sit through that.

It's much easier to manage and navigate individual for sale threads ESPECIALLY when the poster actually posts his location in the subject.

That would work a little better, but there's still an issue. What posts go where? Are you going to post it twice? Then you have double the load from classified ads. What if someone's selling on the East and someone on the West wants it and is willing to pay shipping? Now all the buyers have to look through multiple sub-forums.

It just needs to be communicated to the sellers to put the location in the subject. The icons that they put on are nice, but you can't see them. At least, I can't.

the way the other regional forums are getting around that is to have post over 3 weeks old deleted. that way theres not too many pages to go through.

I'm in favor of it and I have used this section to try and sell more things locally. It builds a more trustworthy community when more people meet face to face for sales.

You guys need to look at the St. Louis Parts Swapping thread.

It has worked pretty darn well. I think the reason is that most anyone really involved lives within a reasonable drive of anyone else. This eliminates the worries of shipping costs and day long drives just to look at stuff. Plus, as stuff is sold or traded, it is pretty obvious if it is still available or not. I have gotten inquiries on really old posts for stuff I still had, so deleting posts may be of questionable value.

Breaking the main classifieds section into regional sub-classifieds with an option to 'view all' would be helpful. It would mean a rather large classifieds directory. A specific urban locale works better in the regular regional forums.

But, then again, I am biased...

Speaking of transmissions, does anyone need a 79 trans? I have no idea if it works correctlyand also no idea if it is 4 or 5 speed. If you want to come get it, it is yours for free along with some other misc stuff that I may have.

I need a 79 or 80 trans but it needs to be a 5 speed. This is for my 75 REPU.
