St. Louis Casino question

Hey, just a question for all you St.Louis heads. Are the casino's there even worth bothering to go to. I am moving out there, and will be there tomorrow. Just curious that is all.

Any info would be great. I checked out a few web sites, but it go me no where. Want to know how many tables, buy ins, etc.

Thanks
Justin

Harrah's and Ameristar out in St. Charles are both top notch casino's, as good as Vegas just smaller. President on the MO side downtown is decent but small and has the best poker room, and Casino Queen on the IL side is lower end and a little run down but offers the best odds on slots and table games. Never been to the Alton Belle.

Not that I gamble...

It sounds to me like you do Steven. I have family in St.Louis, so I am glad to be moving out of hectic Washington D.C.

I may even start up a poker group for some playing. I have won local tournies in Southern Maryland, and I played with friends every week.

I figured Harrah's would be good. Thanks for the information Steven, it is much appreciated.

No problem, welcome to St. Louis! Things are a little more spread out but once you get to know your way around we can go head to head with the big cities on just about everything.

Ameristar is actually a little more recently refurbished and maybe a touch nicer than Harrah's right now. One other thing is that Missouri has a $500 loss limit (resets every two hours) so you don't see the high stakes games like in Vegas.

If you play blackjack it's hard to find a table with less than $10 during peak times, there are $5 tables from time to time. As far as poker I only play at the President and only play limit, I only play a little. But there some good players there I think - I lose more than I win in St. Louis, but I crushed in Vegas, so my skill level is apparently somewhere between "Tourist" and "crafty retiree who plays tight all day for the free food".

LOL. Thanks Steven. I am actually gonna be living in Columbia IL. Which is not very far from STL. I am just mainly going for fun, and trying to learn the game more and more. Even if I make a 5,10,20 dollar profit, I am happy.

I want to get into tournies, but it seems like it is very hard to do. I am only an amateur, but if you seen Jamie Gold on WSOP 06, that guy destroyed!!!

i play @ harrah's about 3-5 times a week, and occaisionally visit the president. harrahs probably has the best poker room in town. however, the president just started offering the bad beat jackpot in its no limit game. i am probably going to start playing there more often. harrahs has more tourists come in and play the no limit game, whereas the president has an assload of regulars who generally know what they're doing. good luck.

Lots of snapper at the I Bar on saturday and tuesday nights. Its located inside harrah's.

As far as which is better for gambling, not really sure. I don't gamble much.

BTW, your pretty far from either living in Columbia. You'll have to come over to missouri to do ANYTHING.
