SE KC need help with FB post-rebuild

I just got done doing an engine and carb rebiuld on an 81. During the rebuild I removed the rats nest. I can't get the engine to start. (Sorry for the fragments, it's been a long day.)

During the removal of the rats nest, there are a couple of hoses I wasn't sure what to do with. The first image will show you the engine as looks now. The two hoses I wasn't sure about are outlined as Unknown #1 & #2 (pictures 2 & 3)

The last image is a picture of my carb explaining (or trying to) what I see when I (attempt to) start the car. The red circled area doesn't open when the throttle is engaged (which i think might be normal) and also doesn't open when any of the levers are moved by hand. The green circled area opens when the pedal is pressed. With the car in the 'on' position, the fuel pump is always on and I notice gas dripping from the venturis in the green circle and the front venturi (right side in the picture) POURING into the barrel. I suspect this is all causing the engine to flood. I think this indicates an incorrectly assembled carb and why nothing is working.

So here is what I'm asking for. I'm wondering if another FB owner in the KC area would be interested in coming this way to take a look at the car and assist me in some troubleshooting. It'd be great if you could drive your FB here to have a working one to compare with. If you've got a spare carb (that is in working condition) lying around, could you bring it with you to be bolted on to see if that works?

Please e-mail reply or post if you are able to help, either here or by coming by. If you can come by, I'll get a hold of you and we can set up a time to do this.

Thank you in advance,
- tasker.

Any help would be appreciated. Even if you can just tell me where the two unknown lines go.

Read Carl and Pratch's how-to on emissions removal:

If you still need help, PM me. I've done it to two cars now and the both still run

Unknown #1 from the first and second picture is going to the pot that adjusts the carb to compensate for the A/C compressor being turned on. I removed it since I removed the A/C system

Unknown #2 is either your fuel supply or return. I can't tell without going out and looking mine over. There should be a check-valve on you return line to stop back-flow into the carb and also gives a bit of back pressure to the carb too. Takes a couple of psi to open it. Make sure if you have it on the line that it is installed in the right direction and working!

3rd picture with second hose from the oil fill tube area: Tube connects to metal line on the fire wall that runs over to the EGR on the passenger side.

I believe the throttle plates your refer to that are not opening are your secondaries. They're vacuum actuated. There is a write-up somewhere to make them mechanical actuated if you want to go that way instead. Gas pouring into any area is bad. I'm not a carb expert, so I'll leave that to someone else.
