Rotary savvy shop in KC ...?
My stock '83 needs tuneup in a bad way. Can you recommend a mechanic or shop in Kansas City area? I've had my usual shop do work so far, e.g., driveshaft, motor mounts, and so on. But I'm not sure they're up for 30-year old 12A engine. Thanks!
RE: "What type of work do you need done?"
I have a stock '83 RX-7 badly in need of a tune-up. It starts quickly--new battery cables--but has a bad miss when cruising at 25-35 MPH. Previous owner claimed he replaced plugs, wires and rotor, perhaps trying to fix miss, but no go. I've tried to find vacuum leak, but I don't really know what I'm looking for. Engine accelerates pretty well thru the gears, at least after it warms up. Sputters a lot before engine gets hot. But when driving on flat city street--not under acceleration--and maintaining a constant speed, engine misses and bucks. Give it a little gas, and missing subsides. Prior owner had rat's nest removed. I think it's running too rich, as exhaust smells heavily of gasoline. Plus, gas mileage is lousy--abt 12-13 MPG (but almost all city driving).
RE: "Where in KC?"
I live in Gladstone, north of the river. I'm willing to go anywhere in metro area, including KS side. Maybe 50 miles out?

Tim london over at London Motorsports in waldo. He did the engine swap on my car before i got it, he does rotary work. Also there are a couple guys that i know personally that are pretty rotary savvy but they dont have shops of their own. Also, you could call kyle (rotary doctor) he lives in neosho but its totally worth the drive down there. Pm me if you'd like some numbers

I would highly recommend Tim @ London Motorworks. His company seal is the shape of a rotor, can't beat that... He's worked on my car for 4+ years as well as another friend on mine, always provides quality and is an overall great guy. Honest and works hard and definitely knows his way around a Wankel.
