New to Kansas City

I Just moved here to kansas city. So far I love it, especially the weather.

Maybe somebody could recommend a shop for me to take the car to. I have a blown apex seal


When I first got into town on teusday I saw a nice white S5 pulling onto a street next to a fire department. Maybe it was one of you. I'm not exactly sure what part of town it was in I think it might have been by raymore or lee's summit.

Welcome to the area. I hope you like humidity!

Unfortunately, there aren't any real good shops in the area. Most people around here do their own work or help each other because of that. The few places that will look at an RX7 usually end up calling one person when they have no idea, and that's "RTS3GEN" here on the forum.

He located out in Lees Summit and does great work for great prices. However, it's not his day job so he's usually pretty busy. The guys in the area are usually pretty helpful. If you spring for some pizzas and sodas, typically you can get more than enough help to swap out an engine or any other work you need help on.

I come from a place that has 100% all the time. You walk out your front door and you're already soaked with sweat.
This is so much better up here.

But where could I find an engine at?

So far it's been nice, but the humidity is coming!

As far as an engine, do you have a blown one now or do you just have a shell and need a complete engine?

I daily drive my TII since it's my only car. It has a blown apex seal but i'm still driving it.
I talked to Prather racing over in Topeka and he said it would almost be better to get a new engine rather than rebuild mine for the costs.

What I want is to have an S5 TII engine streetported.
It doesn't matter if I rebuild mine or buy a new one. If I buy a new one I will take my old one and use it to learn how to rebuild it. Then sell it so I can get some of my money back.

What are your opinions? My budget is not very big. Just graduated, living on my own, and working. I know i'm going to spend money no matter which way I go though and that's fine. I just want my car to be healthy again. I miss the way it used to pull.

IMO, since budget is a concern, I would suggest getting the engine rebuilt. Kevin at Rotary Resurrection can get a good rebuild done for you at a good price:

You will take a slight hit on the shipping, but IMO, this will probably be your best option.

2-5 weeks return time is a pretty long time without a car too.

If you need something quicker, you are going to have to find an engine for sale in the classifieds.
