New guy checking in :)

Hey everyone.

Well i figured i would sign up on these forums as im very amazed by RX-7's and have always been a fan. I didnt get into cars/racing until january of 2005, i originally wanted to save money to get a FC rx-7 but was impatient and bought a 240 instead that was a bit cheaper.. Due to my lack of knowing cars well and just not being patient. The 240 ended up being very rusty and i really couldnt continue to work with it after its engine finally went (which is why i got it so cheap). I had a CA18DET ready to go in but it was heartbreaking to find all that rust in the engine bay and on the frame rails... but hey we live and learn.. mine was just expensive!

8 months later now and ive finally saved up enough money for a N/A FC. I decided that im not really wanting to drift a whole lot like i wanted to before. Im interested in autocross and road racing and decide its best to learn on a non-turbo car and to just take things slowly. I hope you guys can put up with my questions... i know a bit about RX-7's and the rotary engine but im gonna have to do a lot more research to get somewhere with it . So now im shopping for a FC and heres some things i need to know

If possible could someone list out the things i should check on the car before buying? i know this time ill be very very picky on rust, tires, dents, etc. But not knowing a rotary too much.. what are some things i should listen/look for when buying it?

Also once owning the car what are the best ways to prevent it from blowing up? I have heard that rotaries can get very hot and you have to take care of it a lot more than a piston engine... could someone give me some tips? All i know is to change the oil ever 2,000 miles and let the car warm up and cool down properly.

Anyways.. thanks for the help .. anyone from southern illinois?

Read a bit more here and I think you will find that an N/A rotary will hang with any other internal combustion engine. When you start to modify and increase the HP, reliability and longivity wil be affected. There are ways to control both of these and they are covered by zillions of threads in this forum. Use the search function to research all of your questions, and most likely you will find an answer. For the questions unanswered, start a thread, but beware of the "search, dumbshit, replies". Good luck
