KS Need help dealing with a scammer

Hello, my name is Richard and I live and work in Salina, KS. I am looking for some help in trying to recover money stolen from me by a man in Haverhill, Mass. There are a lot of details, which if stated here would create much too long a post so I will just stick to the main points. Basically I responded to a “for sale” post in the 3rd gen section of this forum (see attached link) and sent a 50% payment of $450.00 for a set of HKS coil-overs. My check was cashed and the coil-overs were sold to someone else. I reported the incident to a moderator on the forum (RX7Doctor) who was able to get me the name (Peter) and phone number of the father of the man who took my money. I believe the thief is living at home with his parents. I attempted to contact the father (Peter) by phone last week. I instead spoke with Peter's wife, as Peter was not at home. The problem is the woman spoke only broken English and said that her husband speaks even less English. She asked me to call back with someone who speaks Greek. I do not have any Greek-speaking friend in my area, nor can I find anyone who knows anyone who does. If you speak Greek, or know someone who does that might be willing to help me, I would really appreciate it if you would contact me. I have a feeling this guys parents don't know what he has done and if they did they would not like it. If you are interested in helping me, I can provide a transcript of all the communication back and forth between me and the seller and a copy of the canceled check, so that you can be confident in my version of the facts. I have already tried calling and sending Pm's to the seller. I can assure you he has no intention of doing the right thing. I would try sending a Greek translation of the transcript of my correspondence with their son, but I am certain it would be intercepted. Thanks RD Link to the original for sale thread https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=751614

Sorry to here about this Richard. Good luck getting your money back. I wish I could help, but I don't speak Greek. Did everything make it to you ok?

if you have his phone number you can find his address and call the local police where he lives. give them all the details, also you can sue him too.

This might sound a little old fashion, but you might try writing his parents a letter. I'm sure there is someone from Greece on this board that would be willing to translate a letter. In this age of internet and email, the old fashion means seem to get peoples attention and mean more to the older generation. Just a thought.
