MO Looking for Machine Shop with Rotary Exp in KC

I have some irons that need to be lapped or ground. Are there any machine shops in KC (or surrounding) that you guys have used for this?

You and Dave/Charlie/Chuck don't have anybody local that laps irons, Scott? Let me know if you do find somebody local, as I'd be interested in having some done in the future, as well.

Heck those other guys are buying complete engines from Prather, Riveria and Mandeville. I'm the only one trying to do this on my own. I did manage to get an IT engine back together and it seems to be fine. My next project is a Street Port 12A for Super Touring Under (STU).

Yep - Prather looks real reasonable - $50 per side to blanchard grind irons per their website. Will be going there.

Don't feel so lonely, Scott. I'm in the middle of my first rebuild as well. Gettin' my hands dirty and everything . Are you going to be at Heartland here in a couple of weeks?

Cool. You know the process wasn't too bad. I've been through v8's before and a rotary wasn't better or worse - just different.

If I go it will be to watch. It is a National only weekend - no IT - so no opportunity to race. How about you?

Definitely going to try. It's a blast to watch some great racing and lend a hand wherever I can. Does Heartland usually just run one school weekend a year? Going to have to bite the bullet and attend a double school one of these months...

There are only two SCCA weekends at Heartland Park this year. The Double National in May and a Double Regional in Sept. No SCCA driver's schools at Heartland this year although the double regional may also have a PDX (Performance Driving Experience) for street cars.

There was a double drivers school/double regional race last weekend at Mid America Motorplex (MAM). Unfortunately that was the only school scheduled this year. You can get a racing license by running an accredited driver's school, however.

As far as Driver Education events I believe that BMW, Audi and the Porsche clubs will all be having events at Heartland this year.

I had Prather do a set of irons for me about 4 years ago. I bought a set of brand new housing from Charlie also. I still have everything and it hasn't been used (brand new in box)
