Long Shot. .

hey 3rd gen lovers

cut to the chase, my name is Alex Deitch im an 18 year old senior in high school in northern IN.

i have 2nd gens since i started driving one NA and one TII and i love the rorary engine.

now here is the long shot, I am going to my Senior Prom on May 17th and want to see if there is anyone around northern IN is willing to rent out a third gen for the weekend or 2 days.

i have never been in a wreck, never even got a ticket for anything

we could draw up a contract stating if anything happens im fully responsible and we would of course exchange all information but i could also put full coverage insurance on it for the weekend if the owners does not already have it

i would rent out the car so to say, if some one is interested we could talk prices

i know this is a LONG SHOT! but its worth a try to have a bad *** car for my senior prom

like i said fat chance but i have to try

thank you for your time

Yeah, it is a long shot.

You are most likely a great kid, but too often senior proms get screwed up with alcohol. Combine alcohol with a car that is probably much more powerful and squirrelly than you have driven before and it is a dangerous combination.

Alex, I'd also add that to make a prom truly successful you need to think about the girl you are taking more than about yourself. I can guarantee that she couldn't care less about an FD. She will be more concerned about how she is going to get in and out of the car, how she looks as she is trying to get in and out of the car, and how much attention to pay to her and not the car. Simply put, while your buddies may think it is cool, she won't be impressed with the car and may not even like it for a prom. Find a nice comfortable ride that she can get in and out of with ease, is quiet enough that you can actually TALK to her without shouting over the exhaust, and won't temp you to do anything stupid while driving it.

Sorry to sound like a Dad, but I'm a father of two teenagers and I gave my son the exact same lecture when he wanted to take our FD to a formal dance.

BTW, have fun.

Dude, chances of you finding someone willing to do this are very slim.

I have to agree with David in saying that a girl, on her prom night, and yes, I say her prom night because it is so much more to a girl than to a guy, is not going to care AT ALL about rolling up in a nice car. Now, if we were talking Ferrari/Lambo, maybe they would be cool with it and it would add to them impressing their friends, but not an FD.

If you can't do a Limo for whatever reason, just find a parent or something with a nice SUV to get you guys there and to the after-party. I would say just stay away from any situation where you may have to drive. I would want to know that no matter what, if I drink (which I'm not condoning at your age) or not, I'd be set and not have to drive for the night.

There is so much other stuff going on that evening/night that the car you are driving up in will mean nothing. Pay attention to your date, open every door you see for her, hold her purse, whatever, make it special for her and don't have any expectations of the event/night and you will have a great time.

And this isn't coming from a father, I'm 23 and of all the regrets I have about high school, the time surrounding and at my prom was awesome because of the same advice I just gave you.

Good luck!

~Tom

If my fd was done and i was around you i would let you borrow it for the night as long as you weren't drinking while using it or whatever. Prom night is for fun, and memory making.. if a nice car to take to prom is going to do that for you, far be it from me to deprive you of that.

But it is much easier to have a limo or a chauffeur with the drinking and what not that goes on with prom nights, we got a party bus and all of our friends for the night.

to be honest, i would as well, but im a VERY long way from you so, not possible xD

but eitherway you seem pretty honest and, your willing to sign paperwork insuring you assume full responsibility, As long as you could promise there would be NO alcohol around i think id let you, but then again, theres that, like 900 mile away problem xD

At my prom some guy rented a Lexus hard top convertible. Nice *** car, classy as hell, and most girls love convertibles. Just thought a Luxury car would be a good way to go if you wanted to make an impression on the young lady.

Best of luck
