GRATTAN MI - Open Track Day

Hi everyone,

I wanted to invite the RX-7 Comunity to an Open track day event that we are putting on on May 11th at Grattan raceway. This is the second year we are putting on this very easy going, low cost event. It will mostly be filled with modified street cars, and just the occasional track car. I'm inviting your club because we didn't have an RX-7 out last year, and I wanted to change that this year! So if you think it's something your interested in, we'd love to have you!

Anyway, here's the details, and here's the link to the registration website -> http://events.kzoorice.com/ more info is on the site, and a list of the registered cars is up on the site under register.

Date: Thursday May 11th.
Cost: $125 per person

Track is open from 9:00 to 5:00.
Drivers meeting at 8:30 to go over rules and safety items.
Every 15 minutes a new group of cars will go onto the track. There will be 4 groups with ~10 cars in each group.
Passengers are allowed, but they need helmets (of course)

I want to stress that this track day is very flexible, so if someone is in a group that is too fast, or too slow for their comfort, they can switch to another group without an issue. The limit on the track is 15 cars, so we are starting with 10 per group to allow for this flexibility.

Also, there's a group of us camping out at the track the night before for a pre track day party. It should be a good meet and greet, and lead up to a great Track day the following morning!

Daniele

I would love to, but things are way too busy to take off in the middle of the week.

i'm still mulling it over, doesn't seem like it would be any trouble for me but who knows, i think that might be around the time of my finals, if so that might conflict, i'll have to double check on that...

Hey alnielsen, sorry, I'm not sure which email you sent it too. If it's grulich69@comcast.net, or doorman907@yahoo.com <- (track day email address on website). If you re-sent it to dorrman907@yahoo.com, I'll get back to you tomorrow for sure.

I will have to check my schedule, but it is very possible. Not sure where the Grattan raceway is though. That will make a big difference. Been wanting to get on the track for a while now, ever heard of Gingermen Raceway in South Haven ?

Ya, we go to Gingerman aswell... Grattan is more challanging, and much faster. Everyone that goes there says it's unbeleivable. Also, It has a 1/2 mile straight, vs Gingerman's 1/4 mile straight. There's not many open track days at Grattan because every weekend is always book for some racing event. That's another reason we are doing it on thursday.
As far as direction, Grattan is closer to lansing. probably 45 min from there. Go to the grattan website for exact directions. http://www.grattanraceway.com/directions.html

Hope you make it out!

Hey man, sounds like a good time. Not sure if I could come up with the necessary funds in time though. Not just for the entry fee, I also need tires.

You might have more responses if you post this in the following Michigan rotary forum:

http://mirotaryclub.com/forum/

I don't stop in here too often, mostly just the 1st gen section of this site and the Michigan forum mentioned above. Good luck!

It is east of Belding on M44. A very fun track. It was favored by the Toyota IMSA team for testing because of the veriety of corners.
