yeah derek.... the GEO isn't a scrap car!!

now wait a second.. wasn't the whole point of the GEO "marque" to be cost effective??

if you want lower compression, add a head-gasket or two..
you could stud the block while you're there... if you really feel the urge... although i doubt its needed.

if you do multi-gasket.. spray paint each gasket surface with flat-black cheap metal paint... like rustoleum.. but the CHEAP brand...

I bet it will cost just as much to replace the pistons... as it would be to replace the engine and transmission... even before you figure that the new configuration will be factory super-charged.. nearly double the 4afe's power out put.. and RELIABLE!!

what are you doing with all this time on your hands???

well adding a head gasket or wo wont lower it as much as these pistons, i can get the pistons for 150-200 shipped. im done with being cost effective on the geo, this summer i wanna make it fun and how i want it, i really wanna keep the 4afe in this one (hint hint everyone i will be getting another geo), hm my spare time has been filled with fixing cars including the bonnie and mine, going around trying to find a job i like and want about 20 apps in to places and follow ups on all of them alot of them 2-3 follow ups and no job yet hence fort wayne blows to get a job (greenville, sc 68 on top 100 list on best cities to find a job) um what else, selling stuff, fixing the house up (re wiring dumb ****, fixing water heaters, hooking up heaters and such), um taking pictures finally again, just enjoying my time off till i have to work again which will prolly be in a few weeks

have you actually calculated how much c/r change you'll get by adding a head gasket or two??

so $150 shipped...
plus the cost of new rings, and retainers... time to remove and tear down the block.. likely re-machine.. or at least re-hone the cyl walls re deck the block.... remove, magnaflux and clean the rods... install the new pistons. new bearings....

re assemble.... re-seal.. then re-install the block, head.. and all that..

seems to me that those pistons are ALOT more than $150 shipped. and this assumes they are new, and not from a blown engine wher eyou'll be getting old pistons with broken ring lands and ****..

you say you're doen being cost effective... okay great.. so now, what.... begin half-assing things??? and not do any of the machining tasks I've mentioned above??

Jeff its okay to not follow logic, and be counterintuitive.

its not okay to not listen to those who follow logic and are intuitive.

ok well i will do all of the things mentioned above thank you for bring that to mind but the main reason for going with those pistons is because they can actualy handle boost, in boost 4afes the first thing that goes is the piston itself, so going with a 4ag piston will make it so i can handle some,

i know everyone thinks its a dumb idea to stick with the geo but i have found something i really like, its fun and different and i think im pretty good at driving it, over the next few years i will hopefully get a new adjustable shock i have to ahve specialy made prolly, camber plates and all, so im thinking more than just the engine

im sure there's something out there that would fit you better...

what makes the 4agze piston handle boost better??? like what about it???

obviously a lower compression piston would in general.. but that doesn't count because you are changing that.

the 4agze pistons are cermic coated, now if i keep the rods attacked to them then i will be rocking like a 10.8:1 compression (stock 4afe 9.5:1) now if i keep the 4afe rods and go 4agze pistons ill be sitting at around a 8:1 compression, hmm should i go NA or Boost? would be cheaper to find a good head with the 10.8:1 compression and have cams made, dont ya think? or hmm i dunno, so much to think about right now

I'm still trying to figure out what the connection is between RX7 guys and owning Subarus.

I was out playing in my Impreza too, that thing is the only saving grace of this damn winter.
