Saturday at around 4 I had just merged on i-35 south and was cruising along with traffic at about 65 mph. I look down at my radio to change the track, and when I look back up I have about 6 feet of stopping room before I run into a STOPPED SUV ON THE INTERSTATE! I tried to squeeze too much out of my tires and locked the wheels up and hit his bumper doing about 40. A state trooper pulled up in no time and recorded the situation and wrote me a ticket for following too close (I'm not going to fight it, it was 95% my fault, the other 5% goes to the car in front of the guy I hit who stopped on the highway with nothing in front of him.

That smashed my bumper, crimpled my hood, and bent the frame in front of my radiator (radiator is fine, but my damn 12v compressor came undone and was hanging by it's ground wire.) so after the police officer says we can go I continue my way to the lake and try to put it behind me just for the weekend and try to have some fun out on the boat. So I left the campground today around 2 and was driving home on k-10 when my hood flies up and cracks the hell out of my windshield, even though i had it bungie corded down.

All I could think today was F**K, is there anyone around the greater kansas city area that would have replacement parts they could sell? I don't have much money right now but I'd be glad to trade for some car audio equipment or other car parts. Even better would be someone with a halfway decent roller I could buy off them. Please let me know if anyone can help.

man thats sucks!!! glad you didnt get hurt tho. you should post some pics if you get the chance, i want to see how bad it looks.

 

I'll see what I can do about some pictures. I know it wasn't the prettiest car in the world, but I have a lot of memories with it and it just saddens me that this could happen to a car thats never hurt anybody in her life.

thats awesome. How much for just the roller? I plan to reuse my engine, drivetraing, and interior (I've got the blue back seat remember). Or if your interested I have a few odds and ends laying around that I can put in on it.

Damn, Jerry man, that's drag. You work so hard at getting the other one running, then this... If you need any parts, or a hand, when I can find the time here lately, let me know.

 

Thanks for the support guys, I'll keep an eye out for a roller, and I'll contact the people that have been referred to me. Money is my biggest issue so I'll just end up going with whoever is cheapest that still suits my needs.
