We had a thread on this about a year ago. The Colorado group is kind of an enigma. When I first got into it around 1999-2000 we had a good group of guys, we always held track events and monthly get-togethers.
After a while people started moving away, joining the military or sold their cars. I was in charge of the group for a while and we had a couple more good turnouts, and then more people moved and/or sold their cars. In fact, I even had a whole year of events planned.
Even I get rid of my AE.
It's hard to get anything going with the Colorado group because like I've noticed around the nation from the ATL RX-7 club, and even the club here in Dallas...the groups are always changing. People lose interest in rotaries and the groups change.
Also, it's very difficult to get everyone to meet up. You can even plan events, you'll have about 10-15 people saying they'll make it, and might only get 2 or 3 in the end.
It's a lot of work to get anything accomplished, and, it can also be very frustrating. But in the end you'll find out people are in school, have to work weekends and/or nights, or are too broke to make it out.
I would suggest you guys try to get-together with the RX-8 group. They are generally speaking a much different group of people. Career-oriented people usually in their 30's-50's and don't know too much about rotaries or their History. That doesn't mean they aren't alright to hang out with, it just means their interests and motivations for their cars are generally very different from what you'll find from the RX-7 guys.
They've had some get-togethers here in Dallasish, and the RX-8 guys meet up at one table, while the RX-7 guys meet up at another. They'll go out on drives, and the RX-7 guys will end up racing each other, and the RX-8 guys will get smoked and left behind.
I love the RX-8 and certainly wouldn't mind having one, but I see a lot of them around Rockwall, TX area and elsewhere, even in Strong Badia and no one seems to know what it is...it's just more of an image car to them. To date, I have never seen one being driven too hard.

Sounds like Denver is not a hot spot for RX7's. It would be cool to hook up with everyone at least once to check out their rides. Personally I have seen only two on the road in the past year. A dieing breed up here. I was hoping for a bigger turn out but what can I do. Its amazing how many people in this town dont even know what my car is. I get a lot of compliments and the usual "What is that" line. Even some of the suburban ricers scratch their heads wondering.

Would most definitely be interesting gettin to know some other rotary drivers in the area. I'm real new to the rx-7 scene (just bought mine about 2 weeks ago), and would be nice to know some knowlegable others in the area and to see others' cars.

There are at least 15 3rd gens and plenty of 2nd and 1st around Denver. I saw 6 of them at Rotary Specialists alone one day. We had a meeting on the 10th, which I missed. 8 FDs showed up. It was set-up through a local board, here is the threat

How about one week from today. Sunday 11/07/04. A friend of mine runs Pinkies in Westminister. We can hook up there for the Broncos game. As long as its not snowing or anything I'll bring the FD.
