Chicago FD Owners: Engine Porting Help?
Hi,
I was just wondering if any of the Chicago FD owners have ported an engine themselves. I'm looking to have an aggressive street port done and wanted to know if anyone in the area does their own porting work. If so, would you be willing to port my engine? I of course would take everything apart before handing it over but if it's possible please let me know and how much you would be looking to charge. Thanks in advance.

I'm getting a full single turbo kit built and probably installed by A-spec. I have my own mechanic at my service station whose very capable of working on rotaries and I'm having him repair my failed coolant seal. At the same time I'm going to be replacing all the gaskets, seals, O-rings, adding 3mm Apex Seals, etc., etc. The ONLY thing I don't want him doing is porting the engine because he's not familiar with this process. That's why I asked if any local forum members would be willing to help me out with this.
Obviously your an idiot who jumps to conclusions and should hopefully feel like **** after reading this response. I like meeting fellow RX-7 owners and enthusiasts but you're probably one of the few I'd be better off avoiding.

Farhan,
Do yourself a favor and get your plates/housings ported by a reputable shop. rotary porting takes experience and a sure hand... as you posted you are already an a-spec customer , you should stop in and talk to Sean (above) and he could talk to you about different ports and etc.... trust me you will have better results if you go to a reputable shop that has experience on rotary engines!
good luck

Well thanks guys. I'm pretty sure I won't be porting the motor this year atleast, but I did go ahead and talk to the fella's at A-spec. As usual they were very helpful and I will seriously consider them for when I do want to get a streetported motor.
