Chicago 7/7/07 meet/bbq/drive

So since there isn't much going on in the way of action to get something going in celebration of this wonderful date here is the deal....Since I am new to the area I need suggestions from everyone here on where to hold this, a park you like, a FP with PLENTY of legal parking blah blah blah. On Friday or Saturday we'll make up the final meet/bbq point, and if people post an opinion on a drive destination we'll determine that too. So post up where you think would be a good location and a good drive destination.

This will also be an informal meet no big sponsorship, no free food. So this will be BYO_______ but bring your own with the intention of sharing. We'll have a sign up list of who is bringing what so we don't have 10 people show up egg salad and one guy show up a 2 liter of soda.

So any way post up!!!

I have a family picnic that day, and I will be coming back from the Dells in the morning. So I don't really have the time to get all the BBQ stuff together.

What I can offer is, a meeting place for a large group of cars, hang out for a bit to let people arrive, then go on a cruise from there.

There are some good photo opportunities in the industrial parks around West Chicago, as well as my building. I have 40+ paved parking spaces available.

I think we all could meet around 5 pm, plan to be on the road by 7, then plan a drive that might take an hour or so. Maybe we could head out west then meet back at Fox Vally mall or something. I am pretty close to 88. To get to my place you would exit @ either 59 or Farnsworth.

I really would like to see a get together of some sort. I wish I could offer to set up a BBQ, but this would be the best I could do.

Let me know,
Brandon

Well aside from Brandon's shop all that has been suggested has been Bussie woods. The Chitown DSM crowd uses Bussie woods with good luck....

So post up some more locations that you would like to see this at.

Also post up ideas for good scenic drives.

Hmm...with the date coming up fast, I suggest we just lock down Busse woods and be done with it. If you need some help setting up, let me know.

Because we are going to reserve a picnic shelter, and so we can have 2 weeks to get the word passed around.

I am putting my name on the list but I am not sure if I can make it. As some of you may now my wife is pregnant, she has been having a rough time with morning sickness which for her lasts all day. She said we can go but it all depends how she feels that morning.

I might also make it down, but I won't be eating. Would I still need to bring anything?
