MN Car & Coffee - Sat. Sept. 5th

This is a bit late, but for anyone not doing anything on this saturday, my friend who is in an MR2 club informed me of this and I will be up with them. This is a repost of the information:

Cars & Coffee, Sat, Sept 5th, 8:00-11:00 AM.

Cars are parked in the order of arrival. If we wish to park as a group, then we must arrive as a group.
Be at Perkins by 7:00 AM for breakfast. We'll leave by 7:50 AM for the short drive to Cars & Coffee. If you don't want to arrive for breakfast, then meet at Perkins in time to join the caravan to the MotorPlex... wheels rolling by 7:50 AM.

Driving Directions:
Hwy 5 intersects I-494 in Eden Prairie, right in the southwest corner of the loop, near Eden Prairie Mall.
Take Hwy 5 west through Chanhassen.
Stay in the right two lanes to avoid getting sucked off onto the Hwy 312 exit to Chaska. At the west edge of Chanhassen, there's a traffic light on Powers Blvd/ County Rd 17. There's a big Target and a Perkins (look for the big flag) on the north (right) side. From that intersection, it's approximately 5/8 mile west to Audubon Rd.

To Perkins Family Restaurant:
951 W 78th St, Chanhassen MN, (952) 474-9460

Turn right (north) on Powers Blvd and go a very short block to the first traffic light. Turn right at the light, and immediately look for another right to the Perkins.

To Cars & Coffee at the Auto Motorplex
Auto MotorPlex Minneapolis
8200 Audubon Road, Chanhassen, MN

http://automotorplex.com/ website
From the traffic light at Powers Blvd, continue west approx 5/8 mile to the next traffic light/ left turn lane at Audubon Road.
Turn south (left) on Audubon Rd about 1/2 mile to 8200... the entrance is on your right (west). The MotorPlex is set back off the road a little ways, but you'll see the cluster of green-roof buildings down the hill, in the bowl.

Parking is organized by car nationality, and then by brand. Follow the curvy driveway around to the south side. Follow the signs & workers' directions. Go straight in to the first alley to the right. Follow it to the far east side of the complex (ya run out of asphalt), then turn left and park. Park close together. We need to squeeze a lot of cars into not enough space. It's not like you're parking at the mall... everyone there will be "into" cars and not banging doors.
Be warned... every radar gun in Chanhassen will be aimed at the stretch of Hwy 5 and Audubon Rd leading to 8200. That's especially true after the event. It's all too common for the red-mist to set in, and all the hotshots have to make a grand, smokey exit. They're going to ruin it for all of us. Don't add to the problem.

If we can get a group going, I would rather join up with you guys instead of the MR2 group, hopefully some more 2nd gens can join me

I just talked to Bruno the owner of this complex. You come at 8 and it ends at 11:00am.

You end up being sent to an area of your cars manufacturer. In other words all Mazdas in the same area. I told him about Jered's 810hp and he was impressed. He owns lots of cars.

He also told me a way to go to skip a lot of stop lights and save 10 minutes. I still have to figure it out. He had to go to a meeting five minutes ago. He asked me to be sure and meet him.

I'm going. Check the web site for a pic of August event.

Hope to see some of you there. I'll take my 30GB hd Video camera and my still camera and take a lot of pics if my leg holds up.

Thanx,

Ken

I figured out Bruno's instructions. You skip all the stop lights in Chanhassen. If there are people going and want the instructions I'll try to explain it. He says people start showing up at 7:00am. I plan on being there at 7:30 am. This Bruno fellow sounds really cool and really wealthy.

Cool, if we can even get a small group of 3 that would be great with this short notice, that way we can at least show up in a small group of 7's. Otherwise I suppose I will met up with you LUV when I get to the event with my buddy and his MR2 Group......

MN Great Car Show

I took about 20 stills and video taped about 1/2 the cars.

If you want me to e-mai the stills e-mail me and I'll send them. The video I need to make a DVD.

Well worth the trip, next show is 10-3-09.
