A local body shop is planning on buying this from an insurance auction, and if the price is right I'm planning on buying it from them and parting it. However, it would be nice to know a bit of history on the car before I make plans.

best way is getting the VIN and run a car fax report.

I believe they tell you the old owners name and address. If you can get that, you can contact him/her for information about the car.

Yeah, probably going to do this, but it costs a bit to run a carfax. Figured I'd check with the 7club before doing that.
