The 7's condition afterwards
The 7's condition afterwards
So, after this weekend, I've determined that I'm going to take her outta commission after the BBQ at A-Spec in May. Here's why:
-Way too much blowby. After about 600 miles my oil turned to gas. No good. Plus, when getting heavy into boost, letting off then getting back on the throttle, I produce a smoke screen worthy of a 007 flick. I can't keep driving around like that.
-AEM started misfiring like you wouldn't believe on the trip back home. Died on me on the track too. Not a good thing. I bypassed it and it was way smoother.
-I was getting 90/85 averages for compression late last year. Not terrible, but not the greatest.
-I started leaking coolant. I think it's from a fitting on the turbo though. Didn't look like it was from the WP or anywhere from a main hose. Not a big deal.
-I was adding oil at the BP next to the hotel and a fricking gust of wind jostled the hood off the prop rod and bent the damn thing toward the windshield. Bent the corners of the hood at the cowl to a near 90 deg angle and took a little chunk out of the pass fender. Very pissed.
-Guy named Brody in a silver C5 and I were having fun around the track. We were pretty evenly matched, but wasn't really pulling on him. He had intake, headers and catback I believe. He said it's always been a bit of a factory freak, but even so, with the twins I was even keel with a Z06. Something's not right there.
So, I was planning on doing the motor this winter, but with these issues and other plans, I'm going to retire her early cause smoking like an incinerator isn't fun.
Oh well...

I'm anticipating the whole thing either just seizing up or falling apart in the next year or so. Should be a spectacular explosion
