6th Annual Midwest Rotary Rally Aug 18-20/// see you there

just a note to all interested parties that the MRR is around the corner... Aug 18-19-20.

Road America offers non-stop racing, a beautiful kettle morraine country backdrop along with pleasant (not quite as hot) late August weather. combine that with lots of rotaries, from trucks to 3 rotors, and you have the makings of an enjoyable weekend.

friday night is party in New Holstein night like last year. saturday is hanging out at our Rotary Paddock along w a Concours event with prizes and tons of racing along with an opportunity to take a few laps on historic Road America's 4 miles of asphalt. sunday's feature race is 500 miles and includes most of the cars that raced this year at Le Mans.

so wherever you are make the MRR your August event. i look forward to meeting you.

see you in New Holstein

thanks for the question....

the 6th annual Midwest Rotary Rally centers around Elkhart Lake Wisconsin's Road America racecourse.

www.roadamerica.com

an hour north of milwaukee....watch your speed as there's lots of po-lice watching it the last 40 miles.

friday/party night is in a small town (w a twisty road) about 7 miles north of the track. we have drinks and laughs at a joint called The Beacons. dinner too. el cheapo and a good time. if you are wanting to social climb and rub shoulders w international hotshoes you could pass on New Holstein and hang at 52 Stafford in Plymouth wis just south of the track. i'll take New Holstein.

i don't know if the Starlight Motor Inn (motel) in New Holstein is booked but that's where my FD will bed down.

saturday is breakfast down the block at the South Town Family Restaurant. pass the corned beef hash and coffee and alka-seltzer.

off to the track. almost 500 acres of rolling wooded Kettle Morraine w a 4 mile wicked road racing course running thru it. most of the 06 Le Mans cars practicing before the 500 mile race sunday. complete w Mazda's 3 rotor LMP2 car. we will be able to visit inside the team race area and hear from all the key players...

our Mazda Corral is located near turn 3. great spot, good viewing, some shade, not too noisy and near the best food spot on the track.

Concours judging from noon til 4. all attendees do the judging. 4:30.... winners of the Concours will be announced. and a special presentation to Chuck Fallos of Mazda who has helped us for the last 6 years.

dinner at the Wilderness Roadside Inn... neat place, excellent menue nearby in Plymouth on Hwy 57.

sunday breakfast at the South Town, caravan to the track, gates open at 7 am.
touring on the track...$50 actually worth it to really see one of the greatest road course in the world close up. and maybe go fast while they aren't looking. 10:30 door prize drawings.
and oh, a 500 mile take no prisoners race.... all the ALMS cars plus FIA GT stuff like the factory corvettes, ferraris, maseratis etc. there are about 10 other topflight race series going saturday and sunday.... check the track site for the schedule.

the track might have a list of motels on their site. i will post an additional list shortly.

see you there
