I'm using Keyspan http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/USA19HS/ but anyone should work. You just have to configure the ports through the control panel in order to got Com1 or 2

i got a generic usb to serial adapter and it finds the com fine. the problem is that when you hit connect it acts like it is going to connect, i mena everything turns the different color like its suppose to then it says no good. i fooled with all the speed and connectivity settings but it dont work. i could have sworn i heard of other people on here using different brands of usb to serial adapters and getting them to work correctly.

you need to set the usb adaptor to com 1 or 2 in the device manager of windows, default is com 4 from memory, once this is done it will work

also you have to have the laptop adaptor
