TII Stock Base Maps

I've noticed a few of us have been asking for a given map that one may have In stock format, or simular. So b'c us LT8 owners are unable to zip a map(s) and send It off - I'll just post my stock settings that were sent to me from Microtech themselves. This will help a few to cross-referance their maps, correct what oops that may arise, or even reset It when they receive there unit from another 7, for example.

This Is for a s5 TII stock 550cc FI's. Mods listed at the time of purchase (If this matters) are: big streetport, FMIC, full 3" ss Exhaust no cat, Walbro.

Hi,
Many thanks for your base settings, I am sure that there will be a load of grateful people out there.
To the guys using these settings, be aware that you will need to remove fuel from the base maps, as they are hellishly rich.
On the timming front, from 2500 on the t*rpm map, these values will need to be retarded as rpm rises.IE from 4000-8000 in the region of 12°.

Once again, thank you.

John

I appreciate this greatly you guys have been a tremendous help!!!

silverrotor 08-30-04 07:30 PM

Your welcome!

No need for sceptisisim, should It arise. :) I read the values over and over again to confirm this hour In the making thread was correct. :D

I hope through this that members may start posting there values too.

White_FC 08-31-04 06:10 PM

Thaaaank you silverrotor!!

Much appreciated!

Now, just like you say, if only we could get this to turn into a huge thread with people posting all their maps and their mods they have done so people with similar mods have a starting point before heading to a dyno.

surfpac 08-31-04 11:57 PM

Is there an option in the software that allows us to print out the current Maps?

lowkee33 09-01-04 04:57 PM

I have another question. I was going through the settings in data mode and I saw my air fuel ratio was 16 to 9. How do I adjust this to bring it down?

silverrotor 09-06-04 01:28 AM

I understand for the NA owners the values for the Idle Maps and I *believe* for the Load Maps are different. Please confirm If this Is true and maybe have a fellow NAer post there out-of-the-box values for these Maps.

Dragon 09-06-04 05:58 AM

I still find it hard to beleve that after over a year they still only have the Beta 1.1 software and haven't updated anything. I even contacted the owners of microtec in Ausi and told them about he software problem I discovered. When tunning in 3D every time I make a change in a 5000rpm block, when I move to the next block it skips to the other fuel map page. Then you have to go search for where you left off.. This happens on all 4 laptops I've put the program on. They basicly told me O' Really and brushed me off. I agree they should at least make a way to save a text file of the map if there not going to let you actually save the map itself to the computer your using.

patman 09-06-04 10:38 AM

My car did not run on these numbers. the dwell was way off. I dont know what its preset at from microtech, but i think maybe it should be 30 rather than 3. Other than that, they were helpful, tho.

pat

silverrotor 09-06-04 01:01 PM

patman, I've looked at what I wrote down again and looked at my Handcontroller. Both confirm that Dwell Is set at 3.00. Besides, the Dwell feature has been factory set, and should not be be adjusted unless otherwise specified. ;)

patman 09-06-04 01:24 PM

haha yeah i know...well..im kinda new at this...what could i have done wrong that would make me need to change the dwell so much? my car seriously will not run at all with the dwell set at 3....but it runs great at 30.. This is the first time ive run the car with LT8 in it.

i got some idle problems too..too rich at idle...but i think my load map just needs tweaked for that one... i also had to richen your whole curve some...but i have some mods so that was expected. (I only had an hour to tune my car then i had to come back to school ~100 miles...so i got kinda ghetto with it)

pat

White_FC 09-06-04 05:40 PM

exactly which 'dwell' setting are you changing patman, theres a couple at least IIRC.

are you chaing the one with the %sign after it?

because that would make sense.

Make sure your in the 'Opt' menu and go across to 'dwell'.
Im pretty sure thats it.

And i'm with silver rotor, I would LOVE to see someone with an N/A post their settings!!!
Because the load and idle maps will be different.

patman 09-06-04 06:00 PM

yeah...#16 in the Options menu....just says Dwell. It wouldnt rev over 3k, and bogged until 1500 with dwell @ 3. runs great with it @30. Do I maybe have my trailing coils hooked up backwards? thats the only thing i can think of that might cause it to be way off....also IIRC the map that was on the LT when i got it(used) had dwell set at 51. so am i ok?

ps..going to the dyno asap...will throw my map+mods list up here when im done.

kabooski, this maybe a case from getting to bad to worse. :D

I don't know If Microtech Is dishing out miscellanious values ( which I doubt, but I'd like to hear from them, respectively) or one of us Is not posting correct values. I'd like If you can to post your mods at the time of purchase as they may help.

I can see almost all values differing within our maps - by a considerable margin! The first thing that I noticed to strike me as very odd Is that values for the RPMwot and the RPMcrs have an expressed percentage value greater than 0%. I mean, Microtech Insists that you get your Load Maps down first before moving on to these other Maps. Why would there be values greater than 0 In them? It's not for simplicity sake. They are (and have heard from others) to be all set at 0 for these given Maps...

White_FC 09-07-04 03:29 AM

That CAN'T be a stock map..

look at the 'OPT MixTRIM'

it's got a value, why would they send a base map with a value in there?

Doesn't make sense to me?

boosted1205 09-07-04 03:50 AM

10sec rx7... wanna chime in here?

kabooski 09-07-04 03:34 PM

To clear some things up:
It may of come from a stock turbo'd? tunned s4/s5
this was a map Dale aka 10sec RX7 gave me some months ago
from a car he tunned I presume?

Maybe he can chime is as to what mods that car had if any

silverrotor 09-07-04 05:32 PM

You have originally entitled these Maps stock s4/s5 but now you are saying It Is perhaps from a modded one. It's obvious that these aren't stock values - which Is okay. But to post Maps, with no clue as to the origin, let alone the mods associated to It, Is going to have a member with no clue blow there Engine and turn my thread down Into a fictitious one. :)

kabooski 09-07-04 06:14 PM

the load maps values are not too* off from your base
as I understand it, the fuel curve is pretty much set from the factory for a giving application
I.E rotary, DSM, WRX, VW etc

you use other functions to add or subtract fuel from said fuel curve
(why you see values instead of 0 on my posted map)
adjust the load map if you go bigger injectors or add more boost
which is not building a fuel map but making the adjustments to keep the curve free of any lean or overly rich spikes (use mixtrim is the whole map is too lean or too rich)

remember anytime some one post a map
the water/air, crank values will always differ due to climate altitude etc

(My cable is out due to the hurricane so
I can't stay online too long on the backup-dialup)

I'll post more later

RexRyder 09-24-04 10:31 PM

anyone have a map with bigger turbo/injectors?

surfpac 10-13-04 09:13 PM

Let me know too. I'm using the Bosch coils.

patman 10-13-04 11:15 PM

AHA!!!!! that answers the question right there. that is why ur map didnt work for me. sweet. that means i can quit worrying about that and get on with it. thanks man.

I am one of the Mods to the Microtech Forum so It's okay. ;) :) Consider the revision done seeing how this Is an Important value that I overlooked to add.

This isn't a base map but it seems like a good place to post it anyway.

This is my tuned map that I'm using right now. It's clean and pulls hard.

The car has retarded amounts of mods but I belive these are the biggest variables for AFR....

wow thanks! good place to start for me. I have a 60 trim with .96, and about the same amount of mods. are 880 secondaries enough fuel, heck I have 1600cc injecting gas pumps :)

patman 10-16-04 09:42 AM

thanks dude...might try this map. how do you have your timing set up? 20* at idle seems like a lot to me...

That's what I thought too so I asked Rolo (the guy that tuned it) and he said " it's better like that"....I trust him...he kicks ass = )

Hey Himni,.. What is your idle RPM? How much vacuum are you pulling? I've got my timing at 0 degrees TDC with a 15 degree split, at idle.. and with a 13:1 AFR, I'm seeing a little more than 400mm/16" Hg at 880 RPM.

patman 10-17-04 08:25 PM

NEVER, EVER set timing to TDC. Why do people keep doing this?

HIMNI Racing 10-18-04 12:58 AM

Cold idle is about 850, hot around 950. I see about 18" hg at idle. My timing is set @ the leading mark. (5 degrees ATDC) I want that extra cushion.

It's knida freaky, because a big street port normaly has less vac. Maybe cuz it's a higher comp. S5 engine...I don't know. It's go to be right ...everything (dash unit, hand controller, profec, TT, HKS boost gauge, all give me the same # I'm not bitching though = )

When we tuned it, I had a low 13 AFR @ idle. Under hard boost, about 11.3 ish. Sometimes a tad lower.

Maybe so that the values they see are actual?....I really don't know.

patman 10-18-04 05:53 AM

No not the ref point. setting that to TDC is wrong, but works. he says he has his actual timing set to TDC at idle, which there is no reason for. timing should never be advanced past 5* ATDC.

It was done under the suggestion of a mechanic, who will remain nameless, but is the lead mechanic of one of the oldest rotary shops in the US.

Why do you think this is wrong?

patman 10-18-04 03:18 PM

Dude, i dont care who suggested it, think about it. If timing is set to TDC, that means that just when the Rotor Hits TDC, the plug fires and the fuel combusts. You have to look at it in terms of forces and components. When the rotor is at TDC, all the force goes straight towards the eshaft because the forward component and backward componenet are equal. the only thing that makes the motor run is the momentum of the flywheel, which diverts the expanding pressure. Needless to say, a bunch of energy is wasted, and it is very hard on the engine, not to mention the probability of detonation.

AT 5*, however, there is a forward component that is greater than the backwards component, which lets the expanding gases push the rotor in a smooth arc. This is a GOOD THING.

So, if i am understanding you correctly, and you have your actual spark events at 0* TDC, then whoever told you to do that is completely full of it.

IF, however, you mean that you have the crank set to TDC, and the Static set to 0, but the actual timing map set to 5*, then i misunderstood you and im sorry.

Detonation while idling at 850 RPM, with subatmospheric inlet pressures, at 8.5:1 compression, with a cold spark plug? I don't think so.

You're acting like the combustion event is a singular instaneous pressure, aimed from the sparkplug at the e-shaft, it's not. The rotors are spinning at 850 RPM, in the proper direction. At TDC, you're going to start burning fuel as the the rotor passes towards the exhaust port.

I'm trying to idle cleanly here, not build power.

AT 5*, however, there is a forward component that is greater than the backwards component, which lets the expanding gases push the rotor in a smooth arc. This is a GOOD THING.

It's already traveling in a smooth arc.. the rotors are spinning at 850 RPM. By the time the fuel/air mixture is fully burned, the rotor face is well on its way to the exhaust port.

So, if i am understanding you correctly, and you have your actual spark events at 0* TDC, then whoever told you to do that is completely full of it.

I don't know you, but I'd put money on the fact that this person has built more 13Bs, installed more 13Bs, and tuned more 13Bs, than you have. That doesn't mean anything by itself, but that's where I'm coming from.

IF, however, you mean that you have the crank set to TDC, and the Static set to 0, but the actual timing map set to 5*, then i misunderstood you and im sorry.

No, you understood me correctly. I don't want to start a pissing war, and hose this thread. Thanks for your input.

patman 10-18-04 03:53 PM

ok, i'll leave you alone. it is your car, after all, and you can do what you want to it.
if you decide you want a better explanation of all this, pm me and i'll be glad to help.

pat

ps silverrotor, feel free to delete all my off-subject crap from your thread, dont mean to gum it up with irrelevant junk.

2Lucky2tha7 10-18-04 09:25 PM

PATMAN, what do you have to say about you're entire timing map where all the timing numbers are before top dead center??? Those numbers are all advanced, not retarded. The sparking is occuring before the rotor is even done compressing the air/fuel charge. Timing is advanced because the combustion process isn't absolutely instantaneous, and the higher the rpm's, the more timing advance you will need. This is a simple automotive fact that is true for all vehicles with a combustion engine.

actually at idle the rotors are spinning at approximately 283 RPM. The flywheel spins at 850.

patman 10-19-04 10:53 AM

yes, but not at idle. there is a reason that timing is advanced more as engine speeds increase. it is common knowledge that a rotary should be timed to ~5* ATDC at idle. otherwise it will run poorly, and, more importantly, if you have a smooth timing curve, all your timing values after that will be too far advanced. I am not going to argue about this any more here, as i like the idea of this thread's subject and i dont want to fill it up with junk. I was only offering him some advice, and he didnt take it. ok, so its his car, he doesnt have to take my advice.

Yo Hmni! glad to see that engine is working out. I guess all the time spent on that beast was worth it. Well untill i got attacked by the man size skiters out there or that crazy unknown animal that runs around. Hehehe or better yet the signs that point to the woods selling fruit! hehehe jk, i am glad you are running well i got my t2 running with the mtech and i am tunning it now. Well take care bro

Hi guys i need a LT8 MAP FOR A 93 RX7 WITH A 60-1 TURBO 3MM SEALS, STREET PORT, 550 PRIM, 1600 SECD BIG FUEL PUMP, DOWM PIPE, MIDE PIPE, KOYO RADIATOR.FUEL REGULATOR,I CANT GET THE CAR TO START IN THE MORNING BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS FLOODING THR SPARK PLUGS AFTER I KEEP TRIYING FOR A WILE IT STARTS FINE AND EVERYTHING IS OK BUT I NEED TO FIX THE COLD START MY CRANK SETTING IS FLAT NOT TOUCHED I THINK THIS MUST BE THE PROBLEM OR THE WATER SETTING I JUST NEED A MAP FOR THESE MODS PLEASE. I AM GOING TO CHAGE THE PRIMARI INJECTORS TO 850 BECAUSE I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE BETTER THANKS GUYS.

rx7theone 12-10-04 04:54 PM

I Need A Lt8 93 Rx7 Map. Mods Are 60-1 Front Mount Inter Cooler, Mid Pipe, Down Pipe, 550 Pim, 1600 Sec, Cat Back, koyo Rad, Big Fuel Pump. I Need A Map As Soon As Possible Please Thanks Guys.

patman 12-10-04 05:39 PM

so take some off the crank setting for whatever temp you are having the problem at.. not hard to do..try it, see if it helps any.

patman 12-10-04 10:54 PM

dude...just chill out, stop trying to use somebody else's map, and adjust your own. after all, thats what the microtech is for....

your problem should be very easily fixed just by turning the key to 'on' and reading the temp, then take away a little bit of fuel from that temperature on the crank map.
