software for windows 2000

Hey I have an old tuning laptop with windows 2000. I don't have internet access with it and don't have the start up CD for the microtech. I have a external hard drive that i have the instalation software saved to but when I try to put in on the older computer it wont let me because it doesn't know what program to use to open it with. I don't know what program I should use to try or anything like that. Does anyone out there know what I could use to get the software on there? Please help me out. Thanks
Dom

This could be a LOT of things. If the software is zipped, you will need to use something like WinZip to unzip it on the new machine.

Or you could be trying to open the wrong file. Are you trying to run SETUP.EXE or something else?

well i put winzip and the microtech software on my external hardrive and put winzip on the tuning comp and was able to unzip it and instal. But now the microtech wont connect to the computer. It connects to my hand controller just fine so i know the ecu and cable is good. My dongle is new earlier this year, all I used it for was to setup the ecu then use the handcontroller for tuning. Could the dongle be broken or the computer or something? it's doing this on both of my laptop. Anyone have any idea, i really want to be able to look at my maps and see high spots and stuff to help smooth out my tuning. Anyhelp would be great. Thanks
