Optimal way to run the fuel pump

Hey guys,
Still working on my project and trying to get it fired up with the LT10S. Here is one thing i'm wondering about, originally I was considering running a A1000 fuel pump and I got a aeromotive fuel pump control unit.

Then I decided the optimal route was to use dual intank walbro 255lph pumps. I am curious though if I should maybe set these pumps up still using the fuel pump control unit (in order to reduce voltage to the pumps at lower RPMS) or just to allow the microtech to control it?

I obviousily want a setup that works well, but I am thinking maybe the fuel pump control unit may make things more difficult to fine tune and it may just be easier to allow the microtech to control the pumps?

Thanks for your help and experience.

Dont waste your time.

Hook them up to the microtech end of story.

Also if you can run a surge tank and external pump.
Intank pumps are **** house under half tank of fuel.
Lean outs and blown engines.

+1 to surge tanks. They are proven and will save your motor.

Interesting. The reason I ended up going with a intank setup is because I was concerned about the complexity of the system. Also I was thinking that a smaller pump supplying the surge tank would not be enough and the external pump would still manage to suck air.

The dual setup I have right now has a sump cup built into the bottom as well to prevent slosh. But I still may end up taking your advice and change over to a surge tank setup.

Thanks for the advice.

Dont bother with anti-slosh mods that only band-aid a problem dont fix it 100%.

Get the surgetank setup. The surgetank is designed to beable to provide the main pumps with fuel all the time, even though the pre pump which is inside the tank may not be able to get fuel all the time. Gives you a safety buffer.

Ok one more question than.

Would you wire the microtech up to the pre surge tank pump (intank), or the external pump? Or does it really matter?

I kind of assume that the pre surge tank pump should be wired to run with the ignition signal, and than have the microtech run the external pump. Or should I run a A1000 have the pump controlled by the Aeromotive pump control unit, and the pre surge tank pumps controlled by the microtech?

Say you have 2 pumps. One pre and one external.

You run 2 relays both triggered by the microtech. Obviously one relay per pump. That way they are all controlled by the microtech.

Also the a1000 pump dosnt have very good street life in a street car. They are excellent for a drag car but for a street car it wont last very long.

If your making 400rwhp and under run one Bosch 044 fuel pump.
Over 400rwhp run 2X044 Fuel pump. Much more reliable pump for the street.
Pm me if your looking for pumps.
