Need advise?

I have a lt8 and have been satisfied with this unit since ive had it. No problems whats so ever..But since i bought this used back a few months ago i never had a hand controller or a laptop adaptor. I purchased the laptop adaptor and recieved it today and hooked it up onto the MT ecu and my PC. It doesnt connect to the MT ecu for some reason do i g=have to send the ecu back to get it programed for the laptop adapter to work??

Are you sure that you have the proper software???
You can download it from Microtechs homepage...
And if you have it, just press F1 or F2 to connect it to the ECU!

ARe you using Windows XP? If so and you're using a USB to serial adapter, you'll need to make sure your USB adapter is set to Com 1 or 2. They default as Com4 generally.

Thanks for your help guys. I deleted all info from the web that i have downloaded from MT.
And used the CD version they supplied me and it worked. Now my journey begins....thanks again..

Damn!! thanks for the advice man i thought maybe my ******* laptop was to new to use for the MT. Please explain how i change the setting from com4 to com1 or com2, im not very computer literate I have windows xp also is that helps

just go to the device manager and look for your USB to serial adapter.... probably will be in the USB section near the bottom. Go into it's properties and change the setting in there... sorry I don't have my laptop in front of me right now so I can't give better details
