Microtech Hand Controller - messed up screen when cold?

Ok so I have a hand controller but almost always when i first start the car the display just shows a bunch of gibberish. After some time if I unplug and plug the unit back in....it reads clear as day.

anyone know whats up?

It's only a guess, but based on my electronics experience I think it may be a condensation issue. The board may not be conformally coated.

My hand controller has been In the cold garage for over two years now! I have never seen the screen fog up. I have noticed, however, that the hand controller will run a tad bit slower than normal but this Is attributed to the cold more than anything. I suspect, as Aaron has already mentioned, that you might be having condensation Issues. Perhaps you can store the Hand Controller Inside and see If anything changes?
