Microtech Microtech first impression thread
Well, I've been playing with mine for the last day, and I'm pretty impressed. I got the LT8, 3 bar MAP, software, and dash unit.
My first impression was "man, this is well-built!". Honestly, I was expecting something pretty cheap-feeling. The dash unit looks flimsy in the pics, but it's all metal, and feels really robust in your hands. The little toggle switches could be beefier, but they don't feel like they'll break, really, just that they're a little small. It lights up REALLY well, and the dash unit's warning lights are BRIGHT.
The unit itself is about what I'd expect, but anodized a really nice color... it'll match my car well
The harness is labelled really well, and comes pre-wrapped in wiring loom. The wire seems to be of good quality, though I guess only time will tell.
The software's... interesting. It's certainly not like anything I've ever used before. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy to navigate, and I think it'll be pretty easy to tune. Time will tell at this point.
Okay, so those are my first impressions... what're yours?

I wish my computer wasn't being a pita and wouldn't interface with it
damn dirty dell..
what kinda computer are you using to interface with? what OS ?
and I agree 100% microtech is worth every penny... couldn't ask for a better thing .. well maybe one that rewires itself

Well, you've got to have MT's little dongle to use it - otherwise the error light just gives 5 flashes, and the software will "connect" without ever showing any data.

It showed no connection at all

My first impression was actually doughtfull of the unit. I mean, the thing is sooo small!!! its about the size of 2 packs of cigarettes, about 4x5 inches. The wireing looked good otherwise, the coils look beefy but do not dwarf the stock coils at all.
The software is the same as the demo we recieved a while back...
The beauty of the unit did not come for me until I read the manual. After being totally confused, I hooked up the unit to a spare battery just to test things out. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!! But I can tell you this - it will take at least an hour of review to even start becoming comfortable with any of the controls. This thing is about 100x more advanced than an apexi SAFC.
Thumbs up for now!
