LT-8 plug and play

I am looking for anyone with experience tuning a modified FD with the LT-8 plug and play unit. Can it be done using the hand held unit or is a lap top needed. The car will be running 1600 \ 850 injectors, upgraded fuel pump, single turbo, mp, dp, rad, ic, street ported motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Erik

It can be tuned using the hand held unit but a dyno with a laptop is definitely preference. Its hard to tune the load settings without a dyno but it can be done.

Thanks
What I would like to do is tune it enough on the hand held to be able to drive it some where to have it properly tuned. Where I live nobody has even heard of microtech or any other stand alone ecu for that matter. The place which sold me the unit has not been very helpful, I am waiting for the unit to be shipped now.
