So much going on with the microtech arghhhh ... im about to step into the big boy arena and purchase a microtech lt8s but unsure of what other accoutrements I need in order to monitor and use it safely.

Is the hand controller only necessary if I dont have the laptop adaptor?
And iis the dash unit just there so I can monitor engine vitals without having hte laptop plugged in?

I did a bit of research but am a bit perplexed.
