it's been a while since I've worked on this, but I'm back at it now and I'm stuck at the same spot I was before. Which has to do with the VR2+ and VR2- connections on the Zeal card, which are not labeled. I have a label called VR2 with two holes, I assume these are it, but what is + and -

Daughterboard connection - Main board connection
12V - S12
5V - S5
GND - Proto GND
GND - SG
VR2 (+) - IAC1A (On the Zeal card NOTHING is labeled VR2 +)
VR2 (-) - IAC1B (On the Zeal card NOTHING is labeled VR2 -)
VR2 Out - JS10
IDLIN - Bottom end of R19
IDLOUT - Banded end of D8
IN1* - JS11
OUT1* - SPR1

 

The one labled VR2 (closest to the hole) is +

Because the documentation DIY puts out tells you that the one closest to the label is the + one (last I checked anyway).

you are right, I did find it in the board assembly instructions.. which I did not thoroughly read because I got a pre assembled board.
