Timing Not Quite Right

ok this probably been asked like a billion times.
2nd gen pulley, yellow mark is 5atdc.
when inserting the crank sensor, the magneti pik up should be lined up with which tooth after the missing one? 1st? 2nd? or third? each tooth is what? 30 degrees?
i see that some people are running 1 3 7 9 and others 11 1 5 7
thats what? 60 degrees difference between them? so people are stabbing there sensors differently.
currently im running 11 1 5 7.

If you have a missing tooth, I recommend running 1 3 7 9 settings, and stabbing the CAS to line up on tooth #3 after the missing... you'd use an angle of 60 deg with this setup, and just align the CAS to get timing to line up to -5

ok. i adjusted running dwell, it smoothed out much better. but trailing 2 isnt firing, checked coil, its fine, wires good. it sparks once when cranking. does anyone know how IGs-T works? im assuming IGT-T is working, defaulting to trailing 1. the trailing select signal isnt switching to trailing 2.

check the middle LED's pullup resistor, and wiring inside the MS.

If IGs-T isn't working, you will be getting spark on the trailing that is working 2x more often than you should... it should be firing as often as leading.

It may also be a bad plug, bad wire, or bad coil.

damn this is kicking my ***. replaced Q10, led 18,19 both 4.7k resistors on the trailing. still the same. i accidently switched wires on LED 18 and 19, then trailing 1 stopped working and trailing 2 did work. whats going on here? then i switched it back to the way its suppose to be and L1 fires but L2 doesent.

Is the trailing that works getting spark 2x more often than it should? Do you have it set for FC or FD trailing?

while the car is running i have the trailings running a HEI spark tester. only l1 fires and its about as fast the leading plugs, but im just eye balling it. i wish i had a oscilliscope to look at the wave forms. then i could give you a definite answer. could it be a problem with the MS chip? im thinking either bad connection or corrupted file.

Is the middle LED flashing at idle speeds?

If trailing is firing at the same rate as leading, you're not getting the IGs-T signal through...

When you say pull up resistor is that the 4.7 one that we add in to make the MS work with the Rotary motors?

ok i got spark on both trailings. i ended up reflashing the s19 file. spark on t2 is intermittant but i think thats due to the plug gettin fouled up while i was solving this problem.

OK, the settings might've been messed up then... or you had a corrupt s19. Either way, glad you got the problem solved!
