Yea, I'll be maintaining the sequential twins up to around 350-400hp.

I had no plans of logging the stock ECU. But... I don't see it as being that difficult since I've maintained the stock ECU connectors. We'll see how it goes...

My damn water pump is going out on me so I'll be ordering up one of those today along with an LC-1 wideband.

Last thing... Seeing how I've been having issues with the quick splice connectors I'll go ahead and start soldering the MS harness into the stock harness.

Got off work early, gonna work on this a little and see if I can get the FD idling on the MS.

The FD idled for 15 seconds under MS control. Idle was low though (around 600-620 rpm). Not quite sure why it died out but after I warm back up and ponder on it for a few minutes I'll be headed back out to work out the kinks. I might have this thing idling smoothly before the night is out.

Sorry... I probably would've had things done last night if it weren't for a certain woman. (No this is a good one but still find a way to come between me and my car). She'll be in the way much of today as well but I'm about to go out and see what I can get done before she gets in the way again.

Just an update, I've stopped driving the FD due to water pump issues and also I think I may have a split hose somewhere and hopefully not a crack in my radiator. Either way, I'm waiting on parts that were supposed to get here on the 11th but after some research I found out the shippment was delayed until the 16th. So, when ever the damn water pump and other stuff I got gets here, I'll be able to get back to getting the FD idling.

Water pump should be here today. If so I'll be able to get things rolling again.

I got the new water pump but the pump impeller blades made contact with the water pump housing so when bolted down, the impeller can't rotate. I've order one from a different source and according to them I should have it tuesday afternoon.

New pump should be here this afternoon. The problem had better been a defect with the last pump and not a problem with my water pump housing. If all goes well I'll be getting back on track with the MS and focus hard on having it idling by this weekend.

Ken... keep your eyes on here. If I don't have this thing running by friday, I'll likely be stopping by on Saturday or Sunday.

If I'm home that'll be fine... I should be home at various times throughout the weekend.

did you fix your wiring? I think since you just about had it idling before, you shouldn't have much trouble getting it to idle.

I have none. I haven't heard from 13Beast REW in a long time. I'm sure when he's around again, we'll have more updates.

Yea I haven't forgotten about this project. I've been kept busy in other areas. I'd like to say that I'll be back on getting this together this weekend but I don't want to jump the gun.

I will be doing some non-MS related work to the car this evening. Depending on what time I get done with that, I may finish up redoing the MS wiring. I need to find a store with some good electrician supplies. I want to find some good metal clamps to use to splice the wires rather than soldering them. If I can find those then this might go a little quicker.

I'll likely be picking up some of these on the way home to use for re-splicing the MS harness into the FD wire harness.

Non-Insulated Crimp-On Butt Connectors

I try to stay away from purchasing from RadioShack because their markup is sick. Sometimes getting close to 2000% markup on smaller items. I can understand making a profit but thats crazy. I guess I'll consider it paying for the convenience.

Well I started redoing the MS harness wiring last night. Didn't get alot done before it got too dark but even a little progress is more than none at all. I'll be on my way out to the garage to work on it some more in a few minutes.

Its been so long since I worked on it I had to spend an hour just retracing the wires to refresh my memory of what everything went to.

I've decided against splicing directly into my stock harness. I've used quick splice connectors to get the MS wire harness attatched except for the few that I redid already.

I still have my old US-Spec ECU so what I'll be doing is desoldering the ECU connector off of that circuit board and using it to make an adapter cable with the MS DB-37 on one end and the the stock FD ECU connector on the other. This is basically the same thing as what Ken was doing before with the FCs. I was initially against doing that as once I have the MS running I don't plan on ever installing another stock engine, so splicing right in seemed to be the quickest way to get things rolling but I've noticed that the DB-37 connector will not (easily) fit through the firewall hole when I need to take this engine out again.

I'll post pics when I have it finished although if you've seen Ken's FC adapter you will already know what I'm refering to.

De-soldering a big connector like that can be a royal PITA. If the ecu connector is similar to the FC unit, you may want to just cut the connector leads as close to the circuit board as possible. That should give you plenty of conductor length to solder in your adapter harness. I did that to a few of the conductors in an FC ecu to when I wired up MS to control fuel while piggybacked on the stock ecu controlling spark.

we're not desoldering, we're cutting them. Renns is right, desoldering them is a pain, as that's what we tried first.

However, we cut the whole connector out, not just the pins we wanted.

Yea I was looking at how little space there is and I remember helping Jason remove the connector from the first one you guys did. We forced those pins out by pressing on them with the flat side of a flathead screwdriver until they pop through.

Well, I took off work early to try to get this done and get an early start on the MS this weekend so hopefully everything will go smoothly and I'll have it idling again.

I've got the FD ECU connector cut off of the board and I've removed the MS harness from my stock harness so now I'm ready to start soldering up the MS harness to the connector.

The harness adapter is finished and the MS is connected in the car. I have a new laptop so I have to download all the software again and I figure I might as well redo the firmware on the MS so I'm getting back started now.

Ok, got all firmeware and software communicating like they should. For some weird reason I had to use the boot jumper to load the firmware. Never had to do that before but oh well its done now. Now to redo EasyTherm and all the car settings.

If you redo easytherm, you'll have to reflash the firmware again to get what the ECU says the temperature is to agree with the laptop, and have them both be accurate.
