Yea, I know but it was wiring this time. I fixed it, but it didn't resolve the other problems.

Also found out while diagnosing the problem that the FD fuel pump circuit has a relay that regulates the current going to the pump effectively running it at two different speeds depending on the load on the engine. I could possibley use on of the MSnS-E outputs to simulate that but instead I'll be testing the fuel pressure with the pump running full speed all the time and so long as everything is fine with that I'll be tuning the MS under those conditions.

Doing a little work on this now. Usually I've been warming my engine on the stock ECU then switching to MS to tweak while I have O2 readings. Right now however I've decided to get cranking working like it should.

I've been looking over the FSM and noticed the FD ignition settings for cranking and idle. While cranking the FSM specifies that igintion timing on both leading and trailing is fixed a 5* BTDC. While idling, the FSM states leading should be 5* ATDC and trailng should be 20* ATDC. I went ahead and configured MS to reflect that.

Thinking about that I started questioning my req_fuel and VE Tables. I recalculated my req_fuel to 9.1 using 2616cc displacement, 550cc injectors, and 12.8 fuel ratio. The VE Table was regenerated using 2616cc displacement, and idle of 700 rpm @ 20kPa, peak torque of 217 ft. lbs. @ 5000 rpm/100kPa, peak horsepower of 255 bhp @ 6500 rpm/100kPa, and redline of 8000 rpm @ 100kPa per mazdausa.com specs (kPa values were unmodified from their default values).

Per the megamanual, cranking pulse widths were set with -40*F being 88% of upper req_fuel value, and 180* F was set to 23% of the upper req_fuel value. This came to 8.0 ms @ -40*F and 2.0 ms @ 180*F.

None of these settings get the engine even trying to start but I should atleast be able to be confident that my mixture is very rich and should be leaning the settings out right?

not necessarily.... the default settings work very well for piston engines... usually too rich, but for rotary engines, I've found that they're usually too lean.

any updates i just read nine pages... im looking to hook up my fd engine in my fb pretty soon with single turbo...

i had a few questions though...
fd injectors are high impedence so im gonna need resistor packs? or no

has someone drawn any sort of diagram about how to hook the two cas sensors to the stock fd coils?

what do i have to change on my v3 board with ms1 chip?

do i have to do anything fancy with my tps?

i know theres not much for fd support, but im going to be building a completely new harness and not even touching the stock ecu...
so id like to do everything right the first time.. no splice connectors :)

thanks

Paul

im posetive im going to have more questions, but i really wanna help figure this out for others aswell..

if it helps i have a really old oscillascope and some fance multimeters to figure out sensor calibration...
