Running Second Gen Cas with Megasquirt

Hey,

I was woundering if I could use the megaquirt to only control the cas for now? The reason that I Ask is because I would like to upgrade my ignition right now on my 12a engine, but I won't be able to afford the Fuel Injection ITB till next year. But I've basically got all the second gen ignition parts (CAS, leading and trailing igniters with coils). Let me know if its do able. Thanks

Sam

Just to clear this up, what your asking for is Megasquirt to do ignition only for now, and yes you can do it. Its not "controlling" the Crank Angle Sensor, its just reading the signal its sending out.

So, yes, you can. You will still need to hook the vacuum hose to the Megasquirt, and I believe you still need to run the air temp and water temp sensors, although I'm not 100% sure on the requirement of the air and water temp sensors for ignition.

Yes thats what I'm trying to do ... why would I need vacumm though? and the rest of the stuff ... I plan on building the dual lm1815 to get the ignition to run off that. I would think it would be just an independant thing ... but i could be wrong as I've never done this MS thing before

In case you are wondering my car is being daily driven for the last 6+ months with just the megasquirt and the cas, and a normal carby doing fuel.

No you don't need air or water temperature sensors to do spark only.

Just make sure the temperature correction things are nulled.

I chopped teeth instead of using the dual VR circuit, that works fine!

You do need to give your megasquirt the manifold air pressure, because it needs to know how much load is on your engine to vary the timing for vacuum and full throttle conditions and anything in between
