Question about using a standalone ignition

Would it be possible to use a standalone ignition if the megasquirt has already been flashed to full standalone? I have been working on this car for months and it has boiled down to the car has an internal wiring problem from the convertible top leaking. I have tried to different megasquirts and I cannot get the car to fire. I had fire one time for about half a second. I have a crane ignition system I can use but I need to know will it work since the megsquirt is now set to control everything.

I'm not sure what you are asking...Is it possible to run a Megasquirt with another seperate ignition system? Yes, easily. Just follow the insturctions in the MegaManual to jump the proper connection on the board (Um, I think it's X1? But check to be sure), install the Dave capacitor and then connect the coil input to the negative side of the leading. In software, disable the wheel decoder and set the ignition to "Distributer".

Of course you have to run the ignition system which will either require the stock ECU or a conversion to a dizzy.

It would be better to fix the "internal wiring problems" than it would to put a band-aid on the problem by switching ignition systems.

I have not been able to find where the problem is located. I have been over and over the car. I figured the standaone ignition would be a reasonable bypass. I will look up the megamanual and see how that looks and then tally out my options.
