PS computer error?

I have noticed when driving my car that, from the power steering computer, I get two beeps, pause, two beeps and then sometimes it will pause again and then two beeps. Only does this when I`m comming to a stop. Everything works fine when running on the stock ECU, only get this when running on MS.

Also is anyone going to try and answer?

I have never heard of this happening. I'll have to look around and see if I can come up with anything.

I found the beep codes in the 2nd gen FAQ

1-beep, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of speed sensor signal:
In case broken wires or short circuits occur to sensors or harnesses, the buzzer sounds 60-seconds after the engine speed signal of 2200 rpm continues for 18-seconds.
2-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of engine speed signal:
The buzzer sounds twice and repeats when the vehicle speed signal is missing input and/or no engine speed signal is found (short circuit, broken wire, etc.)
3-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of stepping motor signal:
The buzzer sounds when there are broken wires or short circuits in coils or harnesses.
4-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of the power steering microcomputer:
The buzzer sounds 4 and repeats when there are circuit troubles other than with the micro computer.
5-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of steering sensor signal: Steering sensor is mis-aligned or failed or steering wheel has been improperly installed.

I think this code (2 beeps, pause 2 beeps etc.) may be caused by the tach dropping out sometimes when I am coming to a stop. I posted a ? for Icemark also. If this is the cause then its nothing to worry about.

Ken did I read somewhere that you would be writing code for full time trailing spark in the future?

Icemark confirmed that the two beeps ,pause, two beeps etc. I hear when coming to a stop is caused by the tach dropping out below 800RPMs. The power steering computer gets its input for speed through the tach. No tach = error code. As I`m still working on tuning my 7 I`ll just put up with it for now. I guess a temporary fix would be to adjust the idle up over 800 when fully warmed up.

Yeah that'd make sense.

I haven't worked on that code, but will probably do so as soon as I get a break from some other code I'm working on.

Thanks Ken, I guess since I finally got my 7 up and running you have more time to work on code and build "plug n play" MSs
Later
