I'm using the v3.0 board on a S5 and i'm going to use the extra pins for the ignitors and for second VR input (i don't want to cut the CAS).

There are only two things that i get confused on, and that's wiring the injectors and tach output for the stock tach. Is there even an output for the tach or is that done through the stock internal wiring?

As for the injectors i'm guessing the light blue wire is bank1 and the dark green is bank2. In the diagram it has the two injectors on each bank connected. I'm thinking that i should not connect, and should have each pin running to the ground of the injector. Is that right?

Alright, i've got hold of the S5 wiring diagrams and I'm fairly certain that tach is ran from internal wiring off the trailing coil, so that's one bit solved.

for injectors, pins 32/33 are the primary injectors, and pins 34/35 are for the secondaries. It's ok if you have the wires connected, but if you're splicing into the stock harness, it's also ok to just run one wire to each pin.

Also, you are correct about the stock tach... it runs off the trailing ignitor.

The funny thing is, the MS turns off trailing ignition when you drop below 700 rpms, and turns it back on when you go above 800 rpms... so if you ever drop below that cut-off point, the stock tach will drop to 0.

Okay, does it matter which injector is wired where (front/rear rotor)? I suppose not since you can wire them together. I'll be splicing into the stock harness.

I wasn't aware of that change. That's yet another reason to use the V3 board in these applications!

It doesn't matter which is front and which is rear since both primaries squirt fuel at the same time.

As soon as you guys have a plug-n-play for S5 TII, I am in quicker than you know. The electronics lingo in here baffles me. I have a friend who is killer at this kind of thing, but I am not putting my new rebuilt and swapped in TII engine in his hands.

Please, oh please.

I can't believe that nobody in your area will donate their car to help out. I would in a heartbeat.

Oh yeah, I hope this doesn't make things worse, but I will be tuning this using a Mac. I alrady saw on your site that there is Mac OSX tuning software. That is another reason why I really want the Megasquirt!!

If you're tuning using a mac, I'm not sure the software that works on the mac works with any of the firmwares that are stable for a rotary. I'll have to check into that for you.

That would be great. If not I'll just get a cheap *** PC laptop stripped down to use for tuning only. I would prefer using my Macs (I grew up with them and I'm retarded at Windows for some odd reason!) but I can deal with it, its worth it.

yeah, I bought a really cheap windows laptop to use for tuning... I still haven't checked on the mac tuning software, I'll check on it as soon as I get a chance.

I have a question about the plug n play adaptors. How many s4 ecu's would it take to get you to make me an adapter. By that I mean trade. Also Thanks for all this great info! Keep up the good work! Oh yeah did you guys need an S5 TII computer to play with? I might have one of those as well.

send a PM to tofuball asking him your question.... I have him handling those kinds of things so I can concentrate on software development and building of units.

Well.. after seeing it work at the fudds meet and reading up a little, I'm very interested in getting one of these for my S5. I'll be lurking around this MS forum a bit to see what more I can learn.

What base maps have you developed so far?
S4 or S5, turbo or NA?

And I wasn't entirly clear on this from the demonstration, does the MS have a MAP sensor in it? or would that be required seperately / externally?

the MS has the MAP sensor inside it.. you have to run a vacuum line to it...

I have base maps only for an NA S5...

I'll do the map for the NA S4 when my GXL's harness is fixed, and the turbo S4 will come later when Jason gets his TII registered.

Keep in mind that on an S5, if you go with the MS, you'll have to premix since the MS doesn't control the electronic OMP... The MS for the S5 isn't quite as plug 'n play as the S4 one.

I'm willing to go premix, but does the OMP have to be physically removed or can it just be disabled / unplugged?

I'm not worried about it not being 100% plug and play either, considering if I went with a haltech I was planning on installing a new harness anyway.

ahh ok... I don't think you have to completely remove it. I think in its powered-down state, it still drips a little.

Tofuball put a modded OMP in specifically to drip a little oil in so when he goes on fuel cut, he still has a little lubrication going into the engine.

Nothing seems to be easy for us poor S5 guys. All the FC guys bitch because they are "rare" or "they look better" but good luck getting electronic goodies for them.

Oh well, maybe I should do this set-up:
GXL->S5TII swap->back NA->S4TII swap.

That way I can play too.

or you can just premix... It's not that much of a pain, and eliminates another system that typically breaks on S5's.

Yea it's not that bad. I've been doing it for two years now and no problems--even passed two emission tests.

And Walmart has 1 gallon tcw3 oil for like $7--so it's not that expensive either.

So how is the S5 TII plug and play going? Come to deals Gap in April and we can test one on my car!! I am going to try to locate another S5 TII ECU. I can then send it to you guys to hopefully speed up the process.

I don't expect anything free in the deal, just hopefully a quicker solution for us S5 guys!!
