one step forward, two steps back

First trip to the drag strip was promising. Slow, but never got past 8psi boost @6000 rpm and 40% throttle due to a misfire. Replaced plug wires with new Taylor 8mm and 2 new blaster coils.
Misfire got worse next trip. Few days later, car would not start. Disassemble clean reassemble and install distributor. Not much better.
No longer firing on leading, WTF. Check ignitors and all connections. Power to coil, check. Power to ignitors, check, contacts still clean, check. Check the iginitor and it is good. more checks, more cussing.

After all this crap, it turned out to be a defective coil.

Aftermarket coil? Been in this exact situation before several times due to aftermarket (MSD, for the record) coils.
