Megasquirt Which one to get?
Which one to get?
I'm almost ready to order a Megasquirt for our 87 NA Sport that we use as an autocross only car so want to get opinions as to which to get and what level of software to download. Eventually we will go for an aggressive streetport but for now we are basically stock. I want to get rid of the MAF so I can put in a true CAI also want to be able to tune it better since we have racingbeat roadrace header and true duals all the way to the back.
Should I wait for the MS3 to come out and if so will I still need to add in a second coil driver if I want to run ignition as well as fuel. Or should I go for the MS2+?
What software level also would be best as a starting point?
If I go with MS2 what do I need to do a complete build and install? What would I need for MS3?
I will already have a relay board as I needed to replace my fuel pump relay anyway and the board to start new was cheaper than an OEM relay.
I think that is it for my questions for now, looking for your opinions and recommendations.
Thanks

MS3 is not going to be out until late summer/early fall at the earliest. If you need something sooner, get the ms2. The MS3 will have enough coil/injector drivers built-in to run a rotary, even with sequential staged injection for fuel. I don't know if the initial MS3 firmware will have support for that though. I have not fully decided what order I want to implement those things in.
I would use the 2.1.0 firmware, which is in RC now, and should be releasing soon. I would use the latest TunerStudio to tune it unless you have a REALLY old laptop, in which case megatune should work fine.

Thanks for the recommendation and info. I am hoping that I can stall on the MS until after the racing season so I have plenty of time to work out the kinks. If I can I will go for the MS3 since it won't require extra work to support the ignition. We just had a problem with the fuel pump circuit opening relay that caused me to start thinking really hard about the MS again and doing a complete rewire of the car. If there was enough time between events I would do it in a heartbeat right now but we only have about two weeks between events through most of the Summer.
For now I really like the idea of MS3 so will hold my breath that we can wait that long.
